Arrival Story:
saw him in a pet store-they took him out and he ran straight to me and curled up on my shoes. I knew my husband wasn't going to be happy so, we made a deal that he could get his Harley if I could have the dog. I did get the better of the deal. Oliver was a talker, he loved to announce that you were home. The closest I can come to this, was it sounded like "Rah, Rah, Rooo!" He learned with my husband in order to let him give him a kiss, he had to talk first. He taught my golden retriever to do it too. Because, there was guaranteed treat in it for both of them. He could go up ladders, slide down slides, ride a teter-totter. The kids would make him obstacle courses and he would perform any task just to be told "good boy' Sadly, we live near a busy street. Only to house from it. This fear of him getting out on the road was a constant worry for me. I tried to secure every possibility to prevent him from getting out there. But, one day my son put the trash cans back in and didn't lach the gate well. He pushed it open and he and my retriever Rusty went out in the road. Oliver was hit, Rusty ran home. A young girl stopped immediately and picked him up and drove him to the hospital. Unfortunately, he had to much internal damage. This accident has devistated my family even my husband who isn't much of an animal person. On a good note, I found Oliver's breeder and they have a peke-a-chon for me. I needed to fill the hole in heart even though it will not be the same dog. I miss having my little buddy. I enjoy this hybrid breed and I know the new pup will be pampered the same. A lesson well learned, the gate will have a automatic spring on it, to prevent it from being left open.
