Arrival Story:
Whiskey came to me at 8 weeks old from Melodymaker golden retrievers. I had been on a waiting list for a golden retriever from a really good show breeder for about 2 years and when the breeding was finally cancelled, I was heartbroken. I went to petsmart to buy some bird food and a woman was walking a beautiful blonde golden puppy out of the store...he was so calm and sweet and beautiful, so I asked where she got him and called them that very afternoon. She told me that she had a puppy that was very special and needed the very best of homes, because he was a unique boy. He had been born without a tail-caused by an overcrowded womb (the mother had 15 or so pups) and while he had an amazing personality, she wasn't sure what his health would be like, or if the hook-tail part needed to be removed later on. After interviewing me for days to decide if I was the right home for this little bob-tailed puppy, she agreed to let me come down and meet him. I drove down at 11:00 at night one night, and as soon as I walked into the house and saw this tiny little ball of cotton fluff, I knew he was mine!!!!! I cried on the way home, holding him in my arms. He was my little whiskey!!

At six months whiskey successfully passed his CGC. He then passed his TDI test at 1 year old and became a registered therapy dog. Whiskey's registered name is Melodymaker's Gentleman Jack, CGC, TDI Whiskey has several pet names: Twinky- Named so because he is yellowy/orangey/blonde, but his tail and rear is very poofy white. His hook tail was described by a friend of mine as looking like "Twinky stuffing coming out". Twinky falls in naturally. Doodle- I dont know why, he's just a doodle! Bunny-Butt- without a tail, he looks like a bunny ;) Dozer- He will bulldoze you right over! He also is very NOT GRACEFUL. Hooktail- his little 3-4 inch tail is in the shape of a hook. He has very bad bilateral hip dysplasia, probably caused by the crook in his spine where his tail was mashed. It has caused him to perpetually shift his hips to the left which has caused his hips to deteriorate.
