Arrival Story:
Polar Bear was abandoned at a McDonalds near my home. I was pumping gas and saw him trying to cross a busy street. Naturally, several cars stopped when he ran back to the McD's and to the corner where someone had left him water and cat kibble. He visited with all of us, but mine was the only car he would get into. I took him home, put an ad in the paper, took pictures, made posters and put them up, called the local Pyr rescue, on Monday morning I called all the vets in the area, but nobody had reported him missing. I had several calls on my ads, but none were for him. I took him to my vet to see if he had a chip and if not, for shots. After my vet quit laughing (pets have a tendancy to gravitate to my home) and reported there was not a chip and that he was about 9 months old, I had shots given, and 6 weeks later, with no one showing up to claim him, and of course, he had already stolen my heart, I had him neutered and chipped. Pyrs are not herd dogs, I guess, but he's still trying to herd the 3 cats that live with us. So far, he can herd 2, but no more.
