Arrival Story:
My boyfriend and I were looking for a dog. I finally talked him into stopping to "look" at the pound. We looked at the big dogs, but then made our way to the puppy room. Suzi was just so darn ugly she was cute! We took her to the play area & fell in love with her. She already knew her name and was full of energy. My boyfriend suggested we put in an application for her and just see what happened. 3 days later we were bringing her home! We've been a happy family ever since!!

Suzi passed away yesterday at around 4:45pm. She got out in the road and was hit by a car.
I received a call from my boyfriend asking when I was going to be home. I was just a minute from the house. I was hoping he had a surprise for me and was just excited to show me. I got out of the car and Stephen said, "I have something to tell you. Suzi is dead." I thought he was joking. He lead me to the tailgate of his pickup where Suzi was just laying there. I didn't believe it; maybe she's learned a new trick. That was the denial. Stephen explained that our neighbor stopped by the house and told him that he thought it was our dog in the road. Stephen said that our other dog, Maynard, was barking and looking in the direction of where Suzi lay on the road. I hope he didn't have to see it happen. Stephen and I picked a nice shady spot under a tree in our backyard and buried Suzi there. She would have like it. We were going to bury a toy with her, but I decided against it. She would have wanted her brother to have it.
I've never had a dog that was hit by a car (at least not that I remember). I have dealt with disease, gun shots, etc to where we have decided to put our dogs "to sleep." This is much, much harder. There is no preparation for this loss. I think I went through every emotion yesterday.
It has been so strange without her. Just the normal, day-to-day stuff isn't normal anymore. Suzi isn't here. On the couch she wasn't there licking my face and giving me tons of kisses. At bedtime she wasn't there to snuggle with us under the covers. There was no Suzi to make me wake up this morning because she was so excited to play with her brother. She used to love for me to "blow her hair dry" in the morning when I was doing my hair. I almost called for her to come inside this morning when I took Maynard outside to go potty. And when I get home from work she won't be there wanting to play. Maynard isn't the smartest dog, but he knows his sister isn't there. He misses her. We all miss her. It just won't be the same without her our crazy girl!

New Little Brother!

Hi everybody! I just got a new little brother. My parents named him Maynard. He is 1/2 Rat Terrier & 1/2 Mountain Feist. My daddy wanted to get him for a squirrel hunting dog, but I think he is a great friend to play with! I hunt better than he does. But then again he is just about 3 months old.

I am doing my best to be nice to him and show him how to be a good boy. I actually am doing better at not running off in the morning when my mom lets me out to go potty. (Mom explained to me that I need to set a good example for him.) But he just isn't getting the "don't pee in the house" thing. Mommy sure is tired of washing his bedding & toys everday. But hopefully he will get it soon enough.

We like to play outside in the grass and go hunting for crickets. He is great at tug-of-war & really makes me work for my toys! We like to torment our sisters, Tyra & Brendi (outdoor cats). I am a little jealous of Maynard. Did I say a little, make that a lot. I am very protective of my bedroom and my mom. I have always been Mommy & Daddy's baby girl, so having him around is a real adjustment. I know I am still their favorite though!!!
