Arrival Story:
I found Quincy on Petfinder.com the shelter people had named him Bacon. I wanted a jack russell Chihuahua mix for about 3 years now and finding one wasn't easy. While browsing my local animal shelters page on petfinder at 4 in the morning I stumbled across Quincy and immediately fell in love with him. I stayed up all night waiting for the shelter to open at 9 am. As soon as I could I drove down to the shelter and talked to one of the workers and filled out the paperwork. I sat down with Quincy in the shelter and just kind of hung out. He sat in my lap and went to sleep. A few days later I got a call that all the paperwork had gone through and I could pick up Quincy at the local vets the next afternoon. Quincy has been the best thing to happen to me. He goes everywhere with me.

A little bit sick.

Mom doesn't know what I got into but I got sick last night. I pottied all over her bedroom rug and I threw up on it too. I was worried that she would be mad at me but she wasn't. I did get a dose of nasty pink stuff though. I'm trying to think of everything I had yesterday but none of the stuff I had could have made me sick. Here is what I have so far; my regular dog food, a dog cookie, some peanut butter, a small piece of chicken that grandma snuck to me, water, some grass, a cheese-it, and a chewie. It wasn't the grass. I eat grass all the time. Actually I eat everything on that list at least once a week. I don't know. Mom said she is taking me to the vet tomorrow. They were booked up today.

I've noticed that I only write in this diary when I get sick. ...I'm going to have to talk to mom about that.

Discovery.

I'm allergic to grass. It's a contact allergy so all those time I drug my belly across the grass I was making it worse. Mom picked me up from Grandmas house today and we went to the park to hang out with Miley. She is a chocolate lab. I ran, barked, chased squirrels, and ..... rubbed my belly on the grass. When we got home Mom saw how red my belly was and called Grandma to ask if I had been into anything, I hadn't of course. She made a list of everything I did today after she picked me up and narrowed it down to grass. It itched so much it hurt. Mom tried to wipe my belly down with a wet washcloth but it stung. I cried and whined. Finally Mom put me in the bathtub and just washed me with baby shampoo. I got a dose of benadryl too. The rash and pain have gone down considerably.
Mom said that I have to go see Dr. Gentry tomorrow. I hate going there. It's never any fun and they make me sit still and poke me with stuff. I'm really tired right now though so I'm going to go crawl in bed with mom and call it a night. Happy howl-o-ween everybody.

ITCHY!!!

I can't stop itching. I have flea allergies or so my vet says but I don't have any fleas. Mom has tried almost everything. She stopped bathing me. I didn't have a bath for almost two whole months! When that didn't help you can bet your sweet biscuits she washed all the stink off of me. She took me back to the vet and they said to give me children's benadryl when I was itching the worst and to switch my food. Mom found some really good food called Taste of the Wild. It doesn't have any wheat, corn, or soy. No chicken either so if it's a protein allergy it'll stop. It tastes really good. The benadryl is terrible. The itching hasn't stopped yet but the vet did say that it would take a while to see a great amount of improvement.
