Happy birthday sweet puppy!

Fast forward in these photos and I am now a grown-up girl of 5. I am sooo much still a puppy and I've come to learn how to manage my humans with my perky ears and my funny ways of getting what I want. For example, if my family is not paying enough attention to me, I go into the office and grab a super-valuable paper (I can read) and prance around with it...
I am a great swimmer and love Lake Tahoe and Angora Lakes. I also watch TV (really). It makes me confused when I see a dog or animal in the TV and try to go around to the other side of the wall to see where the window leads..

When my daddy comes home I always grab something to bring to him at the door. Sometimes this can get me in a tiny bit of hot water... but not for long.

My littermate Rebecca and I spend tons of time together, and at the end of the day I jump on her bed (I weigh a lot more than she does) to snuggle and say goodnight. Then I go to my mommy and daddy's bed and spend the night in between them. I wake up and pounce on my littermate Rebecca each morning to wake her up and say "good morning!"

There is lots more. We'll keep posting this year, and put up some fun and funny pictures for all to see and enjoy. Boy do I love my life!

Wow, or rather Bow Wow!
It's been a while since I posted here, so lots to share.
I've been growing and meeting lots of people and dogs!
My family had a trainer visit, she is awesome! She is the one who trained my cousin Henry, or rather, she trained his family. Same thing here. She came over and told my mommy and daddy lots of complicated things, and they took notes. Even my littermate Rebecca took notes. I was not sure about the trainer, Alecia. I think we will have to come to an undersanding about who is boss. She thinks she is boss. Woof! I'll have to work on that with her. She says I'm a "drama queen" and a "tomboy" Whatever that means. I'm getting new things, like tag lines, tie-downs, and stuff like that. Seriously she shared a lot of really valuable stuff with my family.... but what is the deal with the choke chain anyway?

I had a bath today, you can see a very wet me, with my daddy and littermate Rebecca on the photo page. FUN! I'm back to my fluffy puppy self, although my mommy says I smell like the old ladies in the beauty shop, whatever that is. I"m sure I'll start smelling like a puppy again real soon.

I am getting a lot better at the potty thing, which is making my family a lot happier. And they are getting more sleep.

I had a case of Giardia (or however you spell that)... and things were kind of messed up around here... but we got the medicine and now we're fine.

I met some more neighborhood dogs, and some more neighbors, and got to see some more new friends. My littermate's friend Wren came over with his mom Lori and we had some good fun! They're on my photo page. Wren has a littermate of his own named Mattie. She is a big dog, called a Swissy (or however you spell that) and is in the same family of dogs as my cousin Rocky, who is a Bernese Mountain dog. Mattie should be fun to bite and chase. I can't wait.

My littermate Rebecca had a playdate, and that was fun meeting some of her friends. Especially the ones that like dogs. This friend has three, and I could smell them all! I got to meet her whole family when we took her home. They are nice, and taste good too. I got to pee on their front yard at night. Cool.

I got some new chew toys, and am really enjoying a new thing... ice cubes. Very fun. Especially on hot days like today. My family froze some of my toys in the ice cubes so it was even more fun digging them out of the ice. Yum.

These days I like to run as fast as I can in circles, in the garden on the lawn and upstairs on the carpet, where I can get good traction to make those sharp turns. It's lots of fun. Outside I can already run much faster than my daddy, but I let him catch me anyway. I chase tennis balls and frisbees. I'm not real good at the 'return' part of that yet, but who cares. And besides, if I return the frisbee I don't get as much time chewing on it. And what's the fun in a toy if you can't spend some quality time chewing it?

I helped my daddy water this weekend... the hose is so strange. That hard stream of water is fun to bite. I still don't quite get it, but it is a good thing for a puppy to discover on a hot afternoon. I'm still figuring out how that thing works, and if it is alive or not. Maybe I'll have to bite it on the plastic part to figure it out.... or maybe not.

We have baby birds in nests around our garden. They make little sounds and my ears move around when I hear them. But they are too high up for me to see. I saw one several weeks ago when it was flapping and flopping around the grass, but my family would not let me see what it tasted like. I am sure it finally flew away.

Soon I'll have all my shots and will be able to take regular walks, and be able to go to the park and the beach. I can't wait. Only one more month!

In the meantime I'll stick with short trips, like the ones I get to take with my mommy, when I go to her office.

I am a very clever puppy and have figured out how to unzip my travel crate in the car on the way to work. This week I was also practicing how to drive the car. I'll let you know how that goes. I am a big hit at the office, and sit on my big green pillow while my mommy works. I get lots of visitors. It's fun going to work.

I'm at my daddy's feet in the office as he is typing this... I am a good dictation puppy... soon we'll get up and I'll go out for a quick one, then it's upstairs to bed. And a NEW WEEK AHEAD!!! I can't wait!!!
It's so great being a puppy.
Woof,

how much fun can a puppy ask for?

wow, I mean woof....
what a great visit I had on Easter with my cousin Henry!
He was Sooo patient with me, and at 90 pounds, he was a bit intimidating agt first...but I am a brave puppy, and after it was clear that he is a sweet and patient guy, we played and romped and chased toys and ran around until I could not keep my little puppy eyes open another minute. I went to sleep with my other cousin, Sabrina, in the kitchen on the floor... what a great two days.
My parents and sister Rebecca went to Carmel to eat lots of food and visit family... I hope that as soon as I'm potty trained I can go with them on one of those trips to a "dog friendly" hotel or resort out there. I think I will like the beach and the hiking trails and walking around downtown.

My family came back to pick me up and we're all back home now, but I sure do like my other Weeks family... especially Henry. He's my buddy. And my other cousins... they are sooo nice. My Auntie Cynthia did spoil me with treats... but don't tell my mom. Ok?

Gotta sleep now. Missed my naps yesterday.

New chew toys and upcoming visits

I'm starting to get bigger... see me in my sister Rebecca's arms on my photo page.
Well my mom and dad have figured out that I'm teething. And who says people aren't that bright. They finally bought me some hard teething toys, one bone and one "tire" toy...
I still think office chair legs, rocks from the garden and pieces of playground wood fiber are much more fun, and just as tasty. But I am having fun with the new items. We'll have to wait and see. Chew toys are certainly much more portable, and that counts a lot this weekend.... my family is going on a short trip on Saturday, and I get to visit my cousin Henry for the first time. He is also a Golden Retriever, so I will get some tips from him I'm sure.
I can't wait to try some of my games on my cousins and auntie Cindy. My Uncle Mark will be on a trip, but I got to spend some quality time with him when he came over to eat cake with fire on top with my sister Rebecca this past weekend.
They have funny grass at their house, so it will be interesting to see where Henry teaches me to go to the bathroom. Good news is that there is also a lot of playground fiber, rocks and great stuff to chew on. My mom is packing my new chew toys and my crate, so I'll have my "regular" stuff too.
Oh I forgot to tell you the best bit here... I am now an official frisbee chaser and soon, maybe, perhaps, frisbee retriever...
:))

A week in

It's been a little over a week and boy have I had my share of adventures already!

This week I got to meet my doctor... she is very nice but kind of strict I think. She also thinks I'm going to be a lot bigger when I grow up than my guardians thought. This is very good, but I don't care if I'm big or small, because I am a very brave and curious puppy, and I'll be a very brave and curious grownup dog too.

I'm getting used to the potty thing... which is kind of confusing right now. When I have to go (and I don't always know when that is), I try to tell my guardians, (my "mom" and "dad" and littermate Rebecca) but I don't always get it right. I'm doing better however, and have found where they like me to do my thing outdoors. This is a work in progress, according to my new family.

I'm having fun inventing new games to share with my new family. One game I like is when we are in the garden I'll find a leaf or a twig or a rock and put it in my mouth and run run run fast as my little legs will take me away from everybody... so that they'll chase me and say all sorts of things "Haley stop" "Haley come" "Haley give."

It's great fun to train my family to play this game. And it makes us all laugh.

Another game is chewing furniture that has ikky yuk spray on it. My mom sprays the iron leg of the kitchen table, and I lick the spray off, and chew on the leg. Then my mom gets that funny look and says my name a special way "Haaaayyyleeee" and then she gets down on her hands and knees and sprays the table leg again, and then I wait til she puts away the spray, and I repeat the process.... lick, lick, then bite.

This is so much fun to train her to play this game with me. She used to laugh a bit more when we played it at first. I think I need to invent some new games.

On Friday, my sister/littermate Rebecca (see me kissing her in the photos) had her seventh birthday party. I'm not sure what that is, but we had a bunch of visitors over to the house, and of course they came to look at, hold, pet and basically fawn over me. Rebecca had some boxes with colorful paper and ribbons, which these visitors brought exclusively for me. I had so much fun chewing the ribbon and ripping the papers and rolling in the mess. I think Rebecca got something inside of the boxes, but who cares. I got the best part of the fun. They lit a fire on a big cake, sang some fun songs. I can't sing yet but I am beginning to feel my little voice, and I bark bravely even at big tall people--and especially at toys I don't understand... anyway, they put out the fire, and ate their cake. I got to chew one of the candles until someone noticed that I had found it. Bummer. But I did get some cool new chew toys and squeaky things. There are a lot of dogsters in my new family.... and I think my cousin dogs gave them hints about what puppies would want to get as a gift. I can't wait to share my toys with my cousin dogs.

We stayed up until 10 o'clock which I am told is very late for a little puppy, as well as for my littermate Rebecca and her cousins. We slept in late on Saturday.

My littermate had a softball game in the midst of her many birthday celebrations... and while I'm not sure what that was all about, one of my guardians, the one I call "mom" carried me out to the ball park (I can't really go out on walks yet because I don't have all my shots).... I don't know what shots are but the don't sound as much fun as chewing things. It was a spectacular day to be out and my mom let me walk around just a little bit. I found a half of an empty sunflower seed, a rock and some good dirt. I got to go back into the car and came home shortly thereafter. Those green softballs look like they would taste pretty good. Rebecca has several, and if I could only figure out how to get to them....

When my littermate had another party far away in Cupertino... wherever that is... I got to go two doors down to visit my good friends Thomas, Charlie and Linda. You can see me in Linda's arms in the photos. They have two big cats, and I made friends with them. They are very brave, just like me. We played in the back yard, and Thomas also played with us. He is 2, and likes trains and cars, both of which taste very good. I played and then it was time to go back home. Thomas came with me and the grownups and Thomas ate more cake, and I got to run around some more.

Then it was nap time.

I have a little rash and my mom and dad put me in the tub to wash my tummy with some cream that stung a little bit, but I'm OK now.

The biggest thing was that my mom took me in the car with my travel crate (which is one of those cool canvas and net things) and I got to go to her office! Wow! But it was so quiet. I got to hang out with her and had my very own cube and everything. What a fun place. Except that I did not get to run around as much as I would have liked. I got lots of visitors however, and my mom said she was not as "productive" as she would have liked, whatever that means. Oh well, at least I got to meet some new humans, and I also got some more toys. I like meeting new people.

We played when we got home and then I took another bath to get rid of my rash, and I got all wet and everybody got all wet and we had fun... well not that much fun... I would have rather chewed on something... but we were all together and that was fun enough...

I am sleepy now and in my upstairs crate..... tomorrow is another exciting day. I wonder who I'll meet and what things I'll discover!

Nite nite
