June 19, 2008 Mia's Injury

Momma took me to the groomer today. I always go on a Thursday before I go and visit with the sick kids at the hospital. Little did she know I was to become one. When momma picked me up, we made our visits then we came home. I did not feel very well. I took a nap and when I woke up, I did not feel like playing. Momma asked me what was wrong and when she rolled me over to give me a tummy rub she found that I had been gouged with the eletric clippers under my left arm. She called the groomers and they did not know anything about it. No incident report was on file. Momma took me to the vet and he was going to put me back together with medical glue. 15 minutes later, he came back and told momma that when he had cleaned the woud a bit, it was much worse than he first thought. I had to have anesthesia, and have the edges of my wounds cut and sewn. Momma counted 12 stiches on my chest, armpit and left arm. I hate my collar and promised not to lick my owie so momma lets it stay off as long as I don't lick. I tried once and she told me to Leave It in a stern voice and I have not touched it since. I cannot run and jump for 10 days. That's a long long time for me. I have to take antibiotics for 10 days and have my stiches out in 10 days. Momma was going to post pictures of my injury but they make her very sad so she decided to leave my my happy pictures up cause they look better.

Happy Birthday Mia

Today is Mia's third birthday.

My birthday cake (which mom and dad ate) was made from 2 cupcakes and lots of green frosting. Mama said my cake is green because of spring and I was born in the spring. Dad did give me a taste of my cake. I wanted more but mom said it was not good for me. David helped mom put my swing together while I supervised. We celebrated my birthday early in the day because mom is on call and may have to go to work. I hope she gets to stay home with me.

Mia's big scare

I scared my mommy and daddy today -- I was sitting on David's lap while he was eating supper. The food smelled so good, I could not help it! I helped myself to two slices of roast beef ! David tried to get them away from me and the tug of war started. Well the meat was so tender that a big chunk came off and stayed in my mouth and I tried to eat it in a hurry before they took it from me. That's when I scared mommy and daddy. I was choking. Daddy wanted to do the heimlich maneuver on me but did not know how and he passed me to mommy after patting me on the back a couple of times. Mommy said, "Leave her alone she'll bring it up herself," and I did. Then mommy cuddled me and told me she loved me and said she had not been that scared since I was lost in the snow bank 2 years ago. No more sitting at the table for me.
