Britches loves to be near her family. She wants to be with someone at all times (unless she is laying outside in the sun watching the world go by)

Favorite Food:
She loves Lamb and oddly fond of the smell of peanut butter and also tuna

Arrival Story:
My family had decided to get a dog. My husband and I discussed what breeds and sizes we would most be interested in and researched various breeds to see what would fit our family. We both love large dogs so we thought a Mastif or a Great Dane would be perfect. I have always been a conservationist and activist for wildlife and domesticated animals so decided we should check local shelters and rescues before forking out money for a full breed dog. We drove all over the local area that day looking for a dog that was ours. Finally we came to Second Chance were Little Britches found us. I knew the first time I layed eyes on her that she was suppose to come homne with me. At the time she had no name and wasn't even available for adoption but that didn't stop me. We decided to foster her until we could adopt her, taking her home that day. We named her Little Britches after Jennie Metcalf (aka Little Britches) one of the Oklahoma Girl Bandits who rode with the Dalton and Doolin gangs.

A Day in the Life of a Bandit

WOW! It has been awhile

Man life has done a lot since I updated everyone on me. I am all grown up now and I think I have things pretty figured out.

I have two new fur-sisters (to go along with my three human siblings) and they are making me crazy. I swear I saw some gray hair the other day!

I had stared training to be a therapy dog, but after some really bad people who moved in beside us I am not so sure about some people anymore. They threw things at us dogs and tried to hurt us. Mom ended up having words with the people a LOT but nothing changed. She even had to threaten to call the police! It was all a bit more then I care for and I really think there are some humans that need to go to the pound!

I am trying to learn to trust people again though and I don't mind so much when I am not home. But at home they just need to stay away!

It has been one hot summer let me tell you and I am glad my sisters and I can come in the house and cool off. Maybe I can talk mom into making them a page too.

Well I better get back to my day. After my nap I plan on patrolling the yard to make sure it is safe and maybe when it cools off the rest of the family will come out and I can watch the kids play while I sit with mom and dad in the swing.

At the Fair

Me and my family went to the medieval fair today. I never saw so many people in my life! It makes me wonder why we have to get spayed and neutered when it's people who keep havin puppies! But luckily there were a number of interesting dags to meet and sniff. Everyone was super friendly except for a German Shepard who I think was just ready to go home. Once I got use to being around so much activity things were very interesting. I met a young blind human who was very sweet. She was upset so I went to see if she was okay. I sat really still and let her pet and touch me. I really like being able to make people feel better, more so the little ones. I even got to met a nice lady who mom said had Down Syndrome. I really did not know that people were all so different! I did see a lot of kids and people and everyone liked me and thought I was cute. I did really well walking on leash and staying right with mom, which I am not use to since I really don't get out much.

I got home tired adn ready to just sit and cuddle. A big day for a little dog if I do say so myself!

Stranger Danger!

Well it was an interesting day for me today. Or maybe I should say evening... Dad went out to grill some porkchops so I decided to sit at the door and watch. Well to my surprise a strange dog jumped our fence and was in the yard! Well I did NOT appreciate this at all being that this is MY home and MY yard. My hair stood up and my tail went up straight and proud and I started barking warning. Mom knew that this was my "something is not right" bark so she got up to see. Well by that time dad had told the dog to get and he jumped the fence again but it was still running around the other side of the fence. I scratched at the door to let mom know I needed to go make sure that dog knew that this yard belonged to ME! So she opened the door and out I went, putting myself between that dog and my family and let him know he was not welcome here. (of course mom stood there to make sure I was safe and my mom means business let me tell ya) That dog didn't hang around long but I still kept an eye on the yard even after I went back in just in case.

Now don't get me wrong I love meeting new friends and have no problem with other dogs. But I know when someone is up to something shady and will have none of it!

After the excitment I took a quick nap on the couch and enjoyed my evening watching Animal Planet. Looking forward to watching Nascar tomorrow and getting out of the house to do some socializing-shopping at Petsmart!
