Arrival Story:
max was thrown out of a car window because he has demodex or what most people call red mange. someone saw this horrible act and notified animal control. when he reached the shelter he was completely hairless. peggy (another nice lady from the shelter) nursed him back to health and fostered him. she said that she would have kept him, but she already had her quota of dogs. so, he came home with us in december. in january max had his first onset of mange with us. it was a very trying time (especially since neither travis or i had ever had a dog with mange before..) but we worked through it. many trips to the vet later and lots of pills and he was better. just this past month he had his second time around with it. this thime it was much less severe than the last which leads me to believe he will be one of the many dogs who out grows it. max is a lover boy and always will be. he'd rather be laying on your lap and giving you smoochies than anything else. we believe max is either full pit or 3/4 pit and 1/4 sharpei. even though he's over a year now he looks like he's only about 7 months old. he's rather short and stout. which i have been told is a trait of stafford terriers. he's extremely muscular.

feewie.. a hurricane is coming! that's what my mommy says. the last time one came through she gave us two huge rawhides! i wonder if she'll do it again. hehe. i love rawhides! hurricanes aren't much fun. but i get to spend a lot of time with my people. that's the only good thing that results from them. though sometimes when the wind blows branches into our window i get scared and start to bark. but then mommy pets my head and tells me it's going to be alright, so i calm down. i hope this one goes by fast! unlike frances who hit us for 24 hours straight! that was NOT fun!

today has been the usual day of relaxation. along with trying mommy's patience everytime i jump up on the love seat and push off her pillows. hehe. mommy didn't put my mange medicine on today. i guess it was way too hot outside and she didn't want me to be out there in that heat. feeeewie! i'll take the a/c anytime! especially if it means i get to curl up in my favorite blankie on the love seat. life is grand!
