Arrival Story:
Princess was a Poodle Terrier mix and we adopted her from the humane society on 9 May 1992. We had no intention of ever getting a dog. We had purchased a house in a nice older neighborhood across the street from a park. After we closed on teh property and before we moved in, a little girl had been murdered in a neighboring state and the killer brought her body to the park and burned it. A few months after we moved in, someone walked in and stole my purse. We called the police when we realizd what had happened and the next day I went out and got a new driver's license and a new purse. A couple months later it happened again. Both times I was alone in the house and this time he came in right in front of me. He was wearing a long coat with a hood. I screamed at him to get out and ran into the living room to call 911. He followed me, saw my purse and picked it up and left. My husband thought we should get a dog. That weekend, after I got a new driver's license and new purse, we went to the humane society to find our protecter. There were two dogs we were interested in and after playing with both of them we decided on Princess. I still wasn't sure I wanted a dog. When we got home with her our two cats, Ed and Molly, didn't want anything to do with her at all. Later that evening we went out and when we returned Princess was gone. After looking around it obvious what had happened. Ed and Molly had chased Princess out an open window, breaking the screen. We looked everywhere for her but there was no sign of her. The next morning Pete called the humane society and told them what had happened. He thought she might try to go back there. He drove all over the neighborhood looking for her. Later that morning the neighbor from across the alley came over with Princess. She found her the night before in her yard and remembered she had seen us playing with a dog earlier in the day. I knew right then that I wanted a dog.
