Leave a bone for Mac Dubh - In Memoriam

Nicknames: Mac, Mackie

Quick Bio:
 Birthday: December 18th 1996
Likes: Walks, going for a swim, fishing, long hikes and being on guard duty

Pet-Peeves: The mailman or anyone coming into his yard.

Favorite Toy: Stuffed toy dalmation

Favorite Food: people food

Favorite Walk: anywhere

Best Tricks: Mac knows his basic obedience with hand signals. Mac also "dives" for fish and brings up sticks & rocks!

Arrival Story: I grew up with bird dogs and loved their personalities. I saw an ad in the SF Chronicle for a rescued Gordon Setter mix puppy and fell in love at first sight. My husband was opposed to getting a dog and firmly stated "ok, but he will have to live outside". I suggested that we give him a chance to live inside with us and that first night I woke up during the night to find my husband asleep on the floor with his arm around Mac! Now Mac is daddy's boy!

Bio: I named him Mac Dubh after a favorite fictional scottish hero, Jamie Frasier from the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. His nickname was Mac Dubh, gaelic for "son of the black one". Our Mac is really smart , very well behaved and always a gentleman. He is a great big brother to Sadie and Mali and is still playfull as a puppy at times.
Our sweet Gordon Setter, MacDubh, died in my husband's arms on May 18, 2013, he was 16 and ½. Mac was a smart, loyal, unselfish friend and much loved companion. We got him as a puppy and shared so many adventures during his long, happy life. The years have flown by and before we knew it he was old and frail.
Dogs have so much to teach us about unconditional love, life, loyalty and in their bittersweet passing so soon from this world, they teach us to truly value the time we have with them – and indeed, with everyone of importance to us. We were so lucky to have Mac in our lives and will miss him terribly. Rest in peace, MacDubh.
