After months of crying, I accepted my wife's decision to get another dog, not to replace Victoria, but to feel our hearts of joy again and also to make company to our Weimaraner Camila, who was very sad to be alone without Victoria. Camila died of natural causes at age of 11, on October 2005.
I gave my wife the "profile" of the Great Dane I would like to get and she looked very hard for months and found, at last, a kennel 200km far from home, specialized in Great Dane breeding.
The owner of this kennel is a retired judge, who loves Great Danes and she gets 18 dogs of her own.
We got there and as soon as we left the car, some puppies came running in our direction. Among this puppies there was a harlequin female Dane, who did everything to get my attention.
It was love at the first sight. It was strange, but the puppy was acting as she knew me and as she didn't see me for a long time.
That puppy was Amanda, a name I had chosen from a long time ago.
