Arrival Story:
On December 19th 2006 early in the frosty morning, I was walking out to my car to go to work. It reached record cold temperatures that week here in San Diego. My neighbor "Dawn" yelled my name and looked horrified. She was holding something in her arms as she ran towards me. She found a tiny little half frozen dog on her door step. I immediatley sprung into action. Grabbed him ran into the house wrapped him in a towell and turned on the blow dryer on low. He was shaking uncontrollably and his pulse was so low I couldn't feel it. I kept the blow dryer on him until he started to open his eyes a little. He was terrified!....Oh my heart melted. I held him and kissed him and told him to hang on be strong. I left him in the bathroom in a warm bed of towels with a heater and hoped for the best. I came home and he was scared of all of us. Of course all 6 cats and Keena standing outside the door wanting to know what the heck was in there didn't help matters. The little guy was infested with fleas, he had worms, and had ear mites. He was so under weight you could see his little ribs. How could anyone do this to such an adorable little creature. I knew I couldn't keep him. We had Keena and she was the princess in the house for almost ten years. She was spoiled rotten and she loved her six kitties but I just didn't think she would accept another dog.

Bio:
Shannon and I knew the perfect home for him. Shan's mom Jess lives on a ranch in Wyoming. She loves litle dogs. He would have the best home and she was coming out to visit us in March. So we thought we would keep him until she got here to take him home. Were we wrong! He took over the house in no time and melted all of our hearts including Keena!! She adored him! How could we give him away now. We chose to name him Buddy and boy does that name fit him. He immediatley became friends with the cats. The 3 senior cats tolerate Buddy but the 3 young ones adore him. To the point where we think he is having an identity crisis. He plays with the kitties so much that I think he wants to be a kitty. They play chase in the back yard and race through the doggie door. It's hilarious to watch them play. Keena welcomed Buddy with open paws and kisses. He actually came into our lives for a reason. Our beloved chow was diagnosed with lymphoma 4/26/07 and our lives turned upside down. Buddy never left her side. He would kiss her eyes and mouth and sleep next to her. We lost our baby chow and gained another angel. What I have come to realize is that I didn't rescue Buddy. He rescued me!
