Likes:
Chasing squirrels, playing with my big dog friends, having my tummy rubbed, going for long walks with my Mom and playing fetch.

Favorite Toy:
Squeaky "hamburger" or "bagel"

Favorite Food:
I like most types of people food. As far as "dog food" goes, I am a very picky eater but I will eat Abady New York Natural Lamb & Rice.

Favorite Walk:
I like going into town so that people can see me and comment on how cute I am. I also like going for walks to the beach near our house.

Best Tricks:
Giving kisses.

Arrival Story:
I was purchased by a woman named Ann in June 2003 and went to live with her and my 'sister' Darling (a Westie). In July of 2004 Ann sent me and Darling to stay with our dog-sitter Penny. We were only supposed to be there a month but at the end of July, Ann wrote to Penny to say that she was moving back to France and couldn't take us with her. My new Mom and Penny tried to keep me and Darling together but couldn't find a suitable family willing to take us both. Darling went to live with a very nice family in Lexington, MA.

Bio:
It was "love at first sight" for me and my new Mom. She didn't adopt me initially because she was afraid that her cats wouldn't like me. My best friend is Sheila, a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog (see picture at left).

If Sen. Barack Obama becomes president, he'll instantly be faced with decisions that will affect millions of Americans. Obama will also soon be making a decision that could affect millions of American dogs. It has been reported that once the election is over, the Obamas will be looking for a new four-legged family member (much to his daughters' delight).

The American Kennel Club (AKC) has suggested five types of purebred dogs that would fit the Obamas' lifestyle. While we don't disagree that it's important to choose a dog that matches well with the family, mixed breeds should certainly be considered along with pure breeds. Also, whether purebred or mutt, we believe the Obamas should make a winning choice and adopt a family dog, not buy one.

Whether you're a Democrat or a Republican, left-wing, right-wing or any other wing, please sign our petition urging the Obama Family to adopt, and encourage all your friends and family to sign it, too.

Across the country, in both red states and blue states, millions of dogs are killed each year in America's shelters, in large part because there aren't enough families for them. For a candidate focused on "hope" and "change," adopting a homeless pet is the right choice. Win or lose, this is an opportunity for Obama to effect change on this very important issue.

Hello everyone. It's me, Charlie. Can you believe I have not posted a diary entry in over two years? Things have been pretty hectic since we adopted Gabby in March of 2006. Mamma changed jobs a few times and we had several cats become sick. Mamma said she is going to update my page and Gabby's too so stay tuned!

I have a new cousin. His name is Kobe and he is an 11 week old blue-nose Pit Bull. I met him for the first time this week and he is smaller than Gabby but will eventually weigh approximately 70 pounds. Like me, Kobe is VERY smart - and handsome too. I thought that looks and brains must run in the family but Mamma said he and I aren't really related?!? Anyway, hopefully I will have a picture of the two of us to post soon.

I hope everyone is having a great summer.

Your pal,
Charlie

Today my Mamma took me with her to Cape Ann Animal Aid in Gloucester, MA. We went to look at a female Silky Terrier that she had seen on Petfinder. Boy, when my Mom said she was getting me a little sister, she wasn't kidding around! We adopted Gabbi and she only weighs 7 pounds! My Mamma says with the right food and some TLC Gabbi will grow up to be a beautiful Silky - just like her big brother (ME!). She is believed to be about 1 year old. Mamma will know more after we take Gabbi to our Vet.

It is nice to have another dog around the house. Now we are outnumbered 3 to 1 instead of 6 to 1.
