Arrival Story:
TuTu was a stray that wandered up on a ranch about 30 miles north of us. The lady spent about three weeks building her trust enough to get Tu to come close enough to see that she had a severely deformed back leg and was nearly starved to death. She ran an ad for a free leopard dog- so I went to see her and find TuTu there in all her stunning Lacy glory with a hint of a little leopard dog in her from spots you can see on her sides, and the ONE blue eye. We have surmised that she was probably out on a hunt on one of the HUGE surrounding hunting ranches near this lady and was apparently injured and left for dead by her owner. After healing enough to walk she made her way to this womans house. We think this because Tu was fully trained and knew many "hunt" or "working" commands. She was skittish of us, but soon warmed up to the life of a family dog and eventually mated with the old man, Jed Dog, to give us a litter of Jed babies before he goes to doggy heaven. She is the sweetest thing ever and it breaks my heart to think what she suffered through out in the woods, injured and alone. Still to this day she runs at the mere SIGHT of a broom.
