Favorite Toy: my red Kong toy that has made it a few months
Favorite Food: any human food I can find, I'm so sneaky
Favorite Walk: the beach, of course
Best Tricks: I'm quite the acrobat. I love to do flips and jump really high
Arrival Story: Maximus was adopted from the Camarillo dog shelter last year(2007) in March. He was actually picked out by my boyfriend at the time. He wasn't the excitable type. In fact, the two times I went to spend time with him before taking him home, he ignored me completely. He is full of energy, don't get me wrong, but humans don't do it for him that much.
Bio: Upon first examination of him, I noticed all of his front teeth were filed down. He is literally missing the tips off of all of the teeth in the front. The vet and the pound said this was probably due to nawwing on metal or wood. He was found on the freeway, so whatever he was trapped in, he got out of. He had no social skills; he wasn't even house-trained. He wouldn't lay down and relax much for the first week, or so, he paced constantly. The most amazing thing about him, was when he changed his dog aggression. It was like, over-night. He just decided to be happier around other dogs. Not all dogs, unfortunately, but there's hope. If he can calm down around the family cat, there must be hope.
My lady got us a new truck to ride around in. I'm sure she thought I would like it, but I became quite partial to our other one. This one doesn't smell like me and it doesn't have the neato window for me to jump into the back, outside part. That makes my days so much fun. Sometimes I can be inside, and then I can go outside. I love it when my darling is working and I can sit there and help. She always yells if I get too close to the gewy gray stuff she plays with.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I almost forgot to tell you guys what I did the other day. We were out at this new job site and there was a whole bunch of stuff going on. The big truck with the funny hose high in the air was there, and all the loud trucks with the spinning balls on the back were there too. Well, the misses and I were walking around and I wanted to cross over this ditch area where all the guys were standing around. Some of them were standing in the area so I thought it was okay for me too. IT WAS NOT!!! I jumped in and it was not solid ground! It was the gray gewy stuff my darling plays with at the truck. I have never seen it like that and I was swimming in it! She was screaming and trying to get me out. The guys around were just laughing and not helping, but she pulled me out. She is so amazing! Is there anything she can't do? Well, I was going to try and find a different spot to cross over to the other side of the ditch, but it wasn't solid there either. Once again, the misses was screaming, and she had to rescue me from the weird muddy gunk I was in. It was worth it because I got to play in the hose and got all muddy. ha ha. My darling was a little upset because I got her kinda muddy too. It was a hot day though, so it was a good thing. Now I know that the gray, gewy stuff is not for me to play in.
Back to the truck. It's just a lot different and I don't really like change that much. Although, the middle area next to my darling is a lot bigger and I can sit comfortably when we're on the move. I have to say the view is excellent as well. As long as I have my toys and blanket, I think I'll survive.
I gotta go for now. I think I'm gonna lay in the sun while the misses goes to talk to the guys with the funny head things on.
Holy Milkbones, it sure is getting warm outside. That's no fun for me or the misses. I get to take showers though when I get hot, and she has to stay dry all day. We work in a lot of different places. Sometimes we are at the beach, and sometimes we are in the desert. Yuck, I hate the desert! Today we are in a hilly area. There's lots of trees and animals. Our truck is parked next to these funny ones that are really noisy. The little ones are even smaller than me. They look like fun to play with. Their noises are maaaayyyeeee and baaaahhh. The big one is really slow and it's noises are moooooh. There's a protector dog in there so I can't go sniffin around. He keeps an eye on me real good. I told him I was just looking, but he said he's got a job to do.
Anywho, my love and I get to spend most of the day together. She's been in the truck with me for most of the morning. Our job today is really small. There aren't any big scary trucks around. I already got to go out and look at stuff with her. I like to be able to watch the people with her. Sometimes I can even point stuff out for her and help. I hope we can go the park today. The dogs at the beach yesterday weren't any fun. I hope that one smooshed face dog isn't there. He was sooooo annoying last time.
It looks like we are going to go work. Maybe when she's not looking I can find some squirrels to chase. Today's gonna be great!
