Favorite Walk:
On her grandparents property near Deer Park, WA. Sixty five acres of deer and fun!
Best Tricks:
Likes to give jumping high fives and catch the tennis ball in her mouth. Can retrieve three different items by name. She is trying to learn more.
Arrival Story:
We went to Spokanimal, a local pet shelter, and saw her in the cage. She was about six months old and had been picked up wandering the streets. We were trying to decide whether or not to adopt her when we saw another family looking at her. We decided right then to adopt her, beating the other family to the office by about a minute.
Bio:
We didn't know what breed of dog Rilo was for awhile. After some research, and talking to some knowledgeable people including breeders, that Rilo is a "Ridgeless" Rhodesian Ridgeback. Approximately 9% of puppies born to purebred Rhodesian Ridebacks are born without the distinctive ridge. These puppies used to be euthanized or abandoned, but breeders are increasingly giving them to shelters and rescue groups. We think that is why Rilo ended up in the shelter. It worked out for us though, as she has all the qualities of a Ridgeback and is a very special friend.
