Quick Bio:

Birthday:
June 9th 2004

Likes:
I love to cuddle!!! When I lay beside you I like to spoon! I also live for play time with my family Lucy, Otis, Pearl and Fez.

Pet-Peeves:
When mommy leashes me so I won't "greet" people in my very affectionate way. (I think they like my paw prints on their pants).

Favorite Toy:
Ropes of any kind, any of my human brother's things.

Favorite Food:
I like any kind of paper products (magazines/kleenex), my human brother's toys are fair game, and basically anything left laying around . I am now on a special "raw food" diet thanks to my allergies.

Favorite Walk:
Dog park..but I can't go off leash. I love when my "family" Otis, Pearl and Fez come to visit and play.

Best Tricks:
I finished puppy class recently. I can do all the regular stuff, and I walk well and heel on leash. However my best trick in looking sad with my eyes and scrunching up the wrinkles on my forehead so I get instant attention!

Arrival Story:
Adopted him from a breeder in the UK (thanks Shirley and Paul), after several months of planning and stress we finally got him shipped, safe and sound. Despite his normal staffie puppy hyperactivity he has fit into our family wonderfully. His 2.5 year old human brother loves to throw the ball for him and feed him "illegal" treats.

Bio:
From a litter of ten (all red)! His big sister Lucy has adopted him as her puppy, so he is subjected to constant grooming (sigh). In return he mouths her legs, and picks constant "staffie play fights" with her. Flynn was one of the largest puppies of ten, right now he is growing every day (we are starting to think we adopted a bear). Flynnie has also developed allergies, so we have been battling the itchies and ear infections, but he always keeps his calm and loving disposition, no matter how yucky he feels. Flynnie is so loving and patient with children, it's one of his best qualities!

Forums Motto:
Flynnie

What I want to say to you

So Flynn's mommy has been very busy having a second child and juggling a full-time job with mommy and dog duties. Trying to fit it all in. Last week Flynn's big adopted sister Lucy got sick with a flu, she was quite sick, but able to shake it in 3-4 days. This past week flynn came down with what we thought was the same bug, by the 2nd day he was suddenly quite sick. I called my friend who is a vet assistant and she indicated we should take him in to the emergency clinic (it was a Saturday night). I sent him in to get better, I thought he was dehydrated and probably needed IV and medicine and we would be picking him up the next day...that was not to be. The next day we went to visit him and he was very ill, his body was retaining fluids and his head was all puffed, he would try to stand and fall over, he was in incredible pain even on pain meds. It was not what we expected to see and we laid with him in the vets room on a blanket while he moaned and we petted him, and cried. I think I knew then, which is why I cried all the way home and for the next 3 hours until the vet called and told us it was acute pancretitis, and even with thousands of dollars in treatment his prognosis would be grim. We made the difficult decision to take Flynn out of his pain. He was four in June. My husband and I road the 1/2 hour to the clinic in complete silence. And we laid with him on the floor and cuddled him, he was on morphine, and confused. The vet went to put in the IV, and he rolled over in all his pain for a for one last belly pet. Then our gentle and patient boy went in peace. To say we miss him does not suffice. To say we are shocked and traumatized might come close. Please hold the animals and people you love every day and tell them that you love them. Don't take it for granted, don't be too busy "juggling life". We love you are Flynnie, and we miss you incredibley. We keep waiting for you to walk around the corner. Rest in peace our sweet boy, and thank you for spending your time with us.

Toys are tasty

Did I mention I am a puppy? This is very relevant information as it really explains my need to sneak and pilfer toys and chew them into tiny little bits where they can be evenly distributed across the carpet. So far I have been able to find three vulnerable toys this week alone (thank goodness my human brother is only two, and hates to pick up after himself!). Just today I found a stray Harry Potter figure...apparently just sitting there watiting to be chewed. Earlier this week I removed the tails and legs off several plastic dinosaur figures...I think it really improved their play value...now there is no knobbly bits to get in the way. I recently learned that I am tall enough now (as I am growing at a tremendous rate...I can reach new things each day) to climb up into my human's toy box and pre-select my toys for optimum chewing value. I think that chew dog toys are highly overrated...they're soooo predictable...and what's the challenge in your human handing you a toy...yawn. I think I'll stick to my plan of systematically removing the extremities off each toy in the house...they will thank me for it later, when they recognize that stumps are much easier to handle!!!

Food is good

So did I mention I like food? I am growing every day...and clearly the three times a day is not cutting it people! I am so starved that I have to help myself to my little humans food...can I help it if his little table is right at my eye level? Oh the smells, they overwhelm me, they surround me...they overtake my puppy senses..I am overcome and then I just have to reach up and take a little bit, have a little lick, sneak a little piece. So far I have gotten some hot dog, several bowls of cereal, some fish and vegtables and some pasta this week. My mom appears to be just a wee bit angry with me, I am now learning a new phrase "to the kitchen". This means I am to be locked in by myself on a time out! A horrid thing, all by myself without my big sister Lucy to play with and no human contact! These people can be cruel! I will try to be good...but I make no promises people...I am what I am..a hungry puppy at the mercy of my senses, just a victim really!
