Dixie Dolittle, Grasshopper

Likes:
Searching overgrown fields for whatever, especially grasshoppers. Going for a ride in the car.

Pet-Peeves:

Favorite Toy:
BALLS

Favorite Food:
Broccoli! pizza, tacos and refried beans, eggs

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere, especially overgrown places

Best Tricks:
Chasing balls, taking care of kittens, rolling over, sneaking across the floor on her stomach when someone comes to visit that we don't want to open the door for.

Arrival Story:
I was told the dog was hyper and wouldn't come when called and the previous owners couldn't deal with it any more. I have found this NOT to be the case. Dixie is the most well behaved animal I've ever been around and does exactly as she is told. She goes to bed ad 10 p.m. and gets up when I do - whether it's six hours or 10 hours later. Although she gets dog food, she often gets leftovers from my meal. She knows she must wait until I'm finished before she can have the leftovers. She doesn't like this fact, but will lie in her bed quietly, often covering her eyes and face until I tell her she can have the rest of the leftovers. After she eats her meals, she comes to wherever I am to thank me and after I say, 'You're welcome,' she goes about her business.

Bio:
Dixie loves going to the vet's office so much that she jumps out of the car before she is leashed and waits patiently at the office's front door for me to open it. Dixie LOVES patrolling the farm. She can smell deer from inside the house and immediately wants to go outside. She appears to be fearless of any kind of wild animal. She always wants to bark (from the back yard, of course) at coyotes she hears screaming and yelling in the distance. She thinks she can herd the horses and when they get past a boundary, she barks and nips incessantly. one time, they got out of the fence (5 horses) and she had them running all over the back yard. Somehow she knew what their boundaries were and she knew they didn't need to get close to the road. She kept them in the yard away from the road for a couple of hours until someone came to put the horses back into the fence. She always wants to ride in the car - she loves it. She doesn't even try to get into the car with me during the week when I leave for work but somehow she knows when Sunday is. She EXPECTS to be able to ride in the car on Sundays. She takes her seat, looks out the window for a while, and then lies down to enjoy the ride.
