My sisters and I we all agree
my mommy is a friend to all she sees

Especially dogs she finds in the street
the ones who look like they've really been beat.

She often stops our car to let them in
to get them off the street so a new life can begin

I bark at her and she says No No No
we must help them, they've no place to go.

So in the car and into a crate
so they will have a happier fate.

Where they will either find their family
or begin a new life and be happy and free.

She's done this for a long time I hear
my sister says more than 11 years.

Doing what she can to share her love of canines
and once in a while helping a few felines.

Arranging for shows for kid with special needs
she will tell them all about our breeds

How to pick up poo and feed and walk us
staying on a leash so we don't get hit by a bus.

We read some stories wear ridiculous clothes
do some agility in our demo shows.

She helps us when we are charity spokesdogs
she even helps us with our blogs

And because she helps us do these things
emails we get and then the phone rings

with donations and toys and even treats
all to help the dogs from the streets.

Sometimes I wish we got to keep it all
there's quite a bit and I'd have a ball.

Rat Terrier ResQ, Border Collies too
she helps us earn money for more than a few

Daddy says all the strays know of her
cause they show up at our place... anything that's got fur.

Just today we met a brand new dog
he smelled so bad it was like a fog

Wandering the street looking sad
mommy let him in it made me mad

I barked and barked and barked some more
she told me to be quiet and shut the door

She took out some treats and I started to drool
but then she knelt down to share with that fool.

That silly dog running into the street
he acted like he had nothing to eat.

She was out there forever and ever it seemed
even after he ran out and almost got creamed.

Finally he took a liking to her
and let her touch his dirty fur.

She picked him up that giant brown mess
what did she do next? do you want to guess?

Put him into our family car
into the crate that had the door ajar.

We drove a while to the special place
where they help the animals with love and grace.

Mommy does this stuff all the time
and helps the groups to earn a dime

She helps us help them with our skills
we fundraise for them to get some dollar bills.

Agility shows for kids with special needs
library shows to tell about our breeds

Holiday trees to sell to raise more cash
she does it all without batting a lash.

My sister PJ says she's done it for years
we are still waiting for her to go into a lower gear.

but she can't help it, she helps them all
the big the tall the short and the small.

She's a pets best friend and will help as she can
Of course I'll always be her number one fan.

If there is no place for you to call home
I bet we'll see you wherever you roam

Don't worry, don't fret, don't waste a tear
because soon enough my mommy will be near.

Adopt 09 Contest

I'm entering the Adopt 09 contest to help support the rescue dogs! Some puppies are not as lucky as me and need homes NOW - so I do what I can by going to shows at shelters, schools, public festivals, etc and participating in dog agility demos. All the dogs in my family are rescues except for me. I am so lucky they didn't hold my pedigree against me!! I was a birthday gift for my mommy and she opened her heart just a little more and let me join the family. WHOO HOOO
