Summer days

Wow it's been a while since I barked an entry. Well I am a bussy doggie and I don't always feel much like tying on the computer.
merri has been with us a whole year now! I was afraid she would be like Cassidy and leave after a few months but she stayed. She is my best pal and I do really like having a sister, even if she does get some of the treats.

I'm really excited about my food. They finally made it in different flavors. I was so bored with the same thing day after day so I started spiting them at mom because I just could not eat another chicken flavored Evo kibble. So mom went and got me this really tasty frozen raw food and I love it. But mom says it is a little expensive so I can't have just the Natures Variety (that's it's name) but this week she came home with red meat Evo! OH JOY!!!! She says ther is other kinds too so now I won't have to be bored anymore. I just don't understand how Merri can eat the same stuff day after day. She will eat anything. But she likes the new flavors too.

Today we went to the doggie park so Merri can run. I'm not a bigh fan of it myself but Merri gets so excited whn mom tells us we are going and I am excited for her. She loves to run and run and play with the other dogs. me I don't like thos big dogs adn I tell them so. I nip their noses and send them running away. Mom says I have to make friends and I migh actually learn to enjoy playing there. She wishes she could take us more often but it is a far drive and she does not often have time or gass for it. I told mom I'll try to be nicer to those dogs but man they are just so pushy and invade my space.

I don't much like what happens after the doggie park. We come home and get a bath! Can you believe it? I mean I finally get to roll in something stinky and get muddy and mom washes all that good stinky off! Oh horrors!!!!
But it sure is fun to dry off in the sun.

In fact I think I'll go take a nap while I can. Mom has to work later.

Pony tails

Well after a whole year of not being able to riding with mom things have goten so much better. I know Merri aleready told you all about the big dogs but I thought I'd put in my two woofs too.

Mom took us to a new place for the first time about two weeks ago. Actually she only took me because she knew I'd be good and not run off. There was my old friend Baby in her stall and I helped mom feed her and the other horse, Mae bell. I was so glad to go to a farm again but I must confess I could not resist eating a bit of poo. Mom hates it but I just love horse poo.

Mom took Merri too a few days later and we went for a ride. Boy am I out of shape! I had a hard time keeping up on just a short ride. The next time mom got my bag out and I rode with mom most of the ride while Merri ran along beside us. But Merri smelled a deer and ran after it and mom was really worried that she would not come home. But soon Merri came running back. She has so much fun running around the farm when mom takes us there.

Mom got a special whislte to call us when we get too far away. I ,of course, always stay close to mom but Merri likes to run really far. She is good though and comes back when she is whistled for. Mom is going to take pics of us riding this week I hope and put some on our pages.

dog park, vcation blues

Well last week sure was rough. It started out great mom was no vacation. We slept in and took long walks each day and Mom took us to the south park dog park where I watched meri Play with the other dogs there. I am getting used to going there but all those big dogs running around scare me a little so I make sure to tell them I'm a mean dog and leave me alone. I stay close to mom mostly though this time I did go and sniff and I did meet one little puppy that I liked.

But then the bad part of vacation happened. Mom left me for 4 whole days! I knew she was up to something in the morning I just knew and when she got in the car and left somehow I knew she would not be back soon and I cried and cried at the door. Fay tried to make me feel better. She let me sleep in her bed and she tried to give me treats and feed me out of her hand but I didn't want to eat. I really missed my mom.

After the four days mom came home and I just kissed her all over for a long time. i sat right on her chest and would not let her get away again.

Well things have seetled down back to normal or at least untill friday morning. We went for our morning walk and mom saw a kitty. After she took us home she left again and came back with the kitty. It was thin and hungery and I really did not like to have another kitty to try to take mom's attention so I barked at her. But mom said she was only staying for a little whil. That's good because that kitty did not like me or merri and Calli was really angry that she was there. That cat stayed right on the front porch acting like she owned the place until this morning. Then Mom loaded us all in the car, kitty in her cat carrier and we went to a place wher a nice man came and took the kitty out and when mom got in the car agin there was no more kitty. Mom says she is in her new home. I'm glad mom helped the kitty but I'm even more glad that it is not here anymore.

Well mom says we might go to the park tonight so I better get a nap and make sure I'm energetic for playing. this time maby I'll make some friends...nah.

A walk in the park

Today mom took us to a place called South Park to an off leash dog place. We went there one other time right afre Merri came to live with us.
There were about a hundred basset houds that all raced up tot he gate to say hi. I was not thrilled about thisl let me tell you I yipped and growled and snapped my teeth a them all. I made very sure no dogs came near my mom. Mom said i should be nice and go play but I really just needed to gurd her from all of those dogs! There were all kinds of dogs there and more kept comming and some would leave the whole time we were there.
Merri was less worried than me. She sniffed greetings with several dogs and took some walks around. Mom finally walked with me out and around and I did run and play a bit when we were away from the other dogs.
Then this huge dog came. I mean he was as big as a horse and I know because I rode a horse before. Mom said it was a Saint bernard. I yelled at that dog to stay away from my mom and it did because I'm so fierce and scarey. The saint dog pretended to just walk away but I could tell he was afraid of my big dog bark.
After that we went to Pet smart and mom got some food for us and we went home. Now I just want to have a nap in the sun. It has been a prty bussy day.

Sharing my bones! Was that in the fine print?

Merri is finally feling more comfortable here with us. A little too comfortable if you ask me. I mean I'm really happy that she finally relised to poop outdoors but she still pees once in a while on the rug. Makes mom kinda unhapy but she tries not to yell. But really do I have to share my toys? Last night Merri found one of my chewies and she took it. Now I had not particularly wanted to chew on it right then but she was getting beagle spit all over it! How am I upposed to chew on it when she has her paws on it. So I watched her really close and when she got up to follow mom into the kitchen I snagged it and burried it in the sofa cushions. When she came back she could not find it.

On the pluss side we do have loads of fun playing togather. Of course mom was a bit concerned to look down and see my entire head in Merri's mouth! But we were only playing and Mer is careful not to hurt me. I have had to tell her to be careful a few times but mostly she tries not to bite to hard. It took me a while to get her to play with me. Don't think she really ever played with another dog before. In fact she seems to be scared of other dogs.

One day we went for a walk on the trail and we saw this big Black dog. I mean he was just the hugest dog I eve saw. You could tell her realy wanted to meet us. His owner said he is nice with little dogs but Merri was scared really bad. She went behind mom and hid and wanted to run away. So I stood up tall and went to the end of my leash and gave that big dog what for for scareing my friend. I gave him my fircest growl like Ringo the wolfdog taught me and barked at him a lot. Finally he went away. Now Merri knows I will protect her from all the dangerous big dogs and other scary stuff in the world. Cause I'm a brave little Hobbit doggie, Just likemy namesake.

Merri and Pippin togather at last!

Can't believe it, mom and I went for a drive in the car yesterday morning and well I just can't believe it!
I thoughtI would have at least a year to wait to get a brother or sister to play with.
So anyway we went for a long drive ansd we got to a place that was full of barking dogs. Mom made me stay in the car and she went in for a long time. I could hear all of these dogs yelling ,pick me pick me! I did wonder what that was all about. So a while later mom comes out and puts on my leash and takes me out of the car to the grass and ther is this lady ther holding another dog on a leash. I was all excited to meet another dog as I always am and I wigggled my hardest to say hi. We sniffed noses and butts and I decided I liked this dog. I think she liked me too but she really had to pee right then so she did not say much. She seemed kind of nervous too.
Then mom put me back in the car and went back inside the building for a long time again. When she came out she had the little dog with her and she got in the back seat of the car and she was comming home with us!
I was so happy to have her come with us. She was really nervous though and she had a big accident all over the back seat. Fortunatly mom is wise and had a cover on the seat. it smelled though. I never did anything so smelly. I had to hold my breath. Mom says she will be better when she gets better food.

new dog is now called Merri after the hobbit Merriadok Brandibuck in Lord of the Rings. So togather we are Merri and Pippin just like the movie. Mom took Mer shoping for a new collar and then came home and put Merri's web page up.

Mer had to stay in the box last night. I was going to go in with her but mom said she needed quiet time without me. Plus she has accidents in the house. She can't seem to find the potty pad. Well I will help her learn proper potty maners. She did cry a little last night but I went and told her it was ok and we are all here for her and she was ok. I checked on her a lot all night and now I'm really sleepy so I think I'll have a nap.

Extra laps and sunbathing

Well finally it is not cold anymore. I get to go outdoors and sunbathe on the porch in the morning before mom goes to work. I hope we get to go out in the yard today so far mom is still home and she says we will do yardwork later.

Mom is not home as much latly. She spends a lot of time with the horses but she makes sure I get special hugs and loving every day. We really need more walks though. mom says we will got for walks though.

We got a new lap a while ago. Mom got a friend who came to live with us and of course that means more cool places for me to sit so when mom is on the computer I sit on her instead. I try to keep the kitties off of my extra lap but it is such hard work. I get on mom and Callie is on Faye but then I have to go get on Faye to get callie off and callie just gets on mom. So I am all the time going back and forth and not getting any rest at all. Sometimes I just share with Callie of let her uses my spare lap.

Precious and I are starting to get along better. I still like to tease her because she is easy to get a rise out of. But last night mom was pleased to see us lay sisde by side peacefully while she was reading.

I heard mom say she is still considering another little dog to keep me company since she is not home much.

We only have two ferrets left now and they are getting old too so perhaps in a year or so we really will get another little dog.

Long time no bark!

Well mom did not relaise how long it has been since she updated my diary. So much has been going on in the last two months.

Mom started training some horses at the barn and now she is gone even more and I am having to really take care of things at home. The extra income is good though because now we can have the house nice and warm. For a while I wonderd if mom actually had the heat on it was so chilly. I would just go back to bed when she got up for work.

We also got a roomate who lives here with us to help pay bills. Her name is Faye and she is a really good back scratcher. It is so nice to have a spare lap around the house. Now I have trouble deciding which one to sit in. Callie take whicever one I don't but I hate to let her just take over my warm laps like that. Sometimes we share one though.

The snow just keeps comming and it got so hight yesterday I could not walk through it too well. I don't like this cold stuff and can't wait till spring so I can sunbathe on the front porch again.

Lady finally left this world about two weeks ago. She sure was a tough girl. She was still geting herself around to the day she passed. But she was very old for a ferret. She was almost 8 years old.

This month I am Two years old and mom says I am finally healthy enough to get spayed. I sure hope that is a special treat. She says she is doing it on her vacation next month. She says she want's to get me a chip too. I like chips especially the cheese ones. I sure can't wait to get me one. This time last year my skin was so infected and sore that mom had to clip off all of my hair to be able to treat it. Now I have all of my fur and I feel really good. Mom says it is the dog food that did the trick. My immune system is finally working right.

I even got a new collar last week. A really nice leather one with brass fittings. I must say look prety sharp in it. Can't wait to show it off on our walks this summer.

It is winter right?

Mom is so thrilled that it has been really warm for about two weeks now. Mostly because that means she can have the furnace turned off. That means lower cost for heat which mom says is good though I would personally like it to be a little warmer in the house.

Cassidy didn't come after all. Her mom found a sitter closer to home. That is ok though because I have made teasing Precious into a fine art form and I love to get her really riled up. When she starts to growl and hiss I growl back at her almost just in the same tone. Mom thinks it is really funny.

Mom decided she just can't give the ferrets away because they really are old so she is just doing her best to take care of all of us.
She said it is easier because there is a nice girl who is helping pay for Whiskey (the horse) to get his extra feed and stuff. Whiskey is also very old and mom got him when she was a young girl.

I learned a new trick last week. I roll over to let mom rub my tummy when she says Firo which means die in elvish. Probably not the best word but she thought it would work and it does. I do like having my tummy rubbed.

Cold snowy days

It is so cold this week mom really hates to take me out to potty. She thought I would not want to go out in the snow but I fooled her. Last winter I would just refuse to go out on that cold stuff but this year I not only go out but I discovered how fun it is to run through it. I have had the zoomies so bad this month from not going for our long walks but mom says it is just too cold for me out there. I play with Callie a lot since she does not go out as much in winter. She agrees with mom it is too cold out there.

I'm not sure I like how friendly Precious is getting with Mom. I mean she climbs right into bed with us and steals my attention. Somtimes I try to get her to play with me but she just growls and hisses and then finally runs out of the room. I don't know why she does not like me. Now she has taken to looking for treats at bedtime. Mom always has a little snack and I always get some but now Precious asks for some too. So I have to share with her and I don't much like it.

Cassidy is supposed to come visit for two weeks while her mom is away. I am looking forward to playing with her. I just know Precious will be mad about it since she never really liked Cass much before.

Mom decided not to adopt another dog just now since she is having trouble with money and says there are too many bills as it is. She is thinking of giving away the ferrets which is sad because I love playing tag with Scooter. I know mom does not really want to give them away though. They are all getting old and they have lived with her their whole lives except for Brody who came to us when she was 2. Now she is 6 and Lady is 7 and the boys are like about 5 so they will not be with us forever. But the cost of caring for all of us is really getting hard for mom. We are all hoping her work will improve soon so she won't have to give them away.

Jade did go to the Humane society last week. We all hope she is adopted soon. Her owner was very sad to say goodbye but it really was for the best. I don't think we can find out what happens to her. She went to the Washington County Humane Society in Pennsylvania. We all wish Jade all the best and hope she finds her perfect forever home.
