I earned a new nickname this week. Here is my story: My mom and I were visting Granmille in San Diego for Christmas and New Year's. I could hardy wait to get there because I knew that my cousin, Luc, and his mom, Julia would be there, too. Being with Luc always means fun and adventure and Julia suggested that we visit a fabulous dog park in San Diego on Fiesta Island. Luc had been there before but it was new to me. Well, let me just say that it is HUGE and spectacular and that is an understatement and a dog can find something to their liking, no matter what they love. We loved it so much that we went two days in a row. On the first day, Luc and I ran and ran across the expansive, grassy area, raced up and down the berms that run next to Mission Bay, explored the shoreline and romped and waded in the water, too. We ran our little hearts out and I never stopped moving the whole time we were there. There is one very special thing about this park: If you're a dog who likes fast and wheeled things such as bicycles and likes to race, you will be sorely tempted to race with the bikes that whizz along, next to the fence and on the road next to the park. Soon after we arrived I discovered this bonus and took off running to have some racing fun. Racing is one of my particular talents and I zoomed across the grass and to the bike fence so fast that all the folks at the park stopped and stared. It was absolutely wonderful! Mom called, "Come," and I raced back to her. Later, I heard a lady tell Mom that I was a very fast runner and Mom respond saying, "Yes she is and sometimes it works for us and sometimes it doesn't," which is not a comment I could understand. Fast running is always an admirable talent in a dog and I made sure to keep an eye on the bicycle fence and visit it again to race with a few more bicycles that day. Just the same, when Mom called, "Come," I came, even if it took a little while for me to turn around. (It's hard to stop and turn when you're a dog who is traveling very fast, you know!) As we rode home in Julia's CR-V, I heard mom call me a "P F Flyer" and say that it was because I could "run faster and jump higher," just like the P F Flyer motto that Mom remembered. We all felt that our first visit to Fiesta Island was a spectacular success! . . . Well, because the first visit to Fiesta Island was so pleasant, we decided to return the next morning. Luc was reacquainted with the park and I was now familiar with it too, so we felt very self-assured and enjoyed running on the grass and along and up and down the berms and finding wonderful surprises such as a ball that was floating in the bay, just out of reach. I tried and tried to get that ball and almost learned to swim on my own when my feet came off of the ground while I was in the bay! Overall our second visit went well, except that I had trouble hearing mom when she called me back to her ALL of the times that I took off racing along the bike fence. In fact, I even impressed myself when I was racing a bike and, upon coming to a fallen-down section of fence that had been out of sight and around a bend, I lept over the fallen fence and barbed wire and the next thing I knew, I was on the road, racing the bike! I was flying and it was glorious! I went far, too, and then, when I turned around and ran back to the fallen fence section, Mom was standing on the other side of the fence and had a funny expression on her face and her hands were up to her face, too. She was yelling for the bikes and cars to stop. Do you think Mom wanted to make sure they saw my spectacular running and leaping? I do! Well, they stayed stopped until Mom helped me find a way back into the dog park and then you know what Mom did? She put my leash on right away and, although I tried to tell her that I wanted to race more bikes, I had to walk on leash all the way to the exit and Luc didn't. . . . On the way home, I heard Mom say again that I am definitely a P F Flyer and can most assuredly run faster and jump higher and I am confident that I have proven it true!

Once upon a time, there was a bone fairy, and that bone fairy was very generous with a wee standard poodle named Winnie. . . Two hundred, eighty-eight bones! Is that a record? I am feeling very special now! Woof! : )

I have a zillion of them! Or rather, I have 78 bones! Mom and I checked my page today and I really have 78 bones! Little me! Wowzer! "How does one get 78 bones?" you ask. It's the generosity of my Dogster pals! Not only are my Dogster pals fun, they are generous, too! It's like I have a Halloween treat bag full of 'em and I didn't even have to go trick-or-treating! A big THANK YOU to all my Dogster pals! If you are planning to be in the Long Beach area to do a bit of trick-or-treating, please come by. Mom and I will be giving out beef sticks, chicken strips and BONES! YUM!

Last weekend was a super weekend because Mom and I had visitors! Not only was Gramille here, but Auntie Julia and my poodley cousin Luc came, too! On the way to The Redondo Dog Park, my mom told me that I was going to get a wonderful surprise and I kept trying to guess what it could be. . . Everything started out regular, just like always. Mom and I went to the park and I made my special entrance, jetting out of the gate and making a lightening-fast diagonal to the dog racing fence where a couple of speedy small dogs wanted to race with me. After that I went to find my mom and that's when I got my very special surprise. My cousin, Luc was there along with my Auntie Julia and Gramille! I jumped all over Luc, just so he'd know that I still love him like crazy. Then I kissed Auntie Julia and jumped all over Gramille, too! I like this kind of surprise! Luc and Auntie Julia live in The Bay Area and Gramille lives in San Diego and I haven't seen them since last summer and there they were at the same dog park that I go to all the time! I am just crazy about Luc and we wrestle and tease when we are together. We ran together and played ball and then I did a little showing-off. I showed everyone how I can run very far, very fast, leaving dust clouds behind me. I also showed how I can jump very high and flip, too. It was a blast! Then, I got to jump up into the back of Luc's Honda with HIM and we rode to the restaurant TOGETHER. (This is one of our special things to do together : ) At night, Luc and I switched beds: He slept in my bed and I slept in his. . . Luc stayed the entire weekend and I just can't wait to see him again, hopefully, at Thanksgiving. I am so lucky that my Auntie Julia chose a dog as terrific as Luc and that we get to have rowdy fun together, at least, a few times a year! (I call him "Magical Luc, because he is absolutely wonderful and I adore him!) I hope I get this excellent surprise again and very soon, too!
