Arrival Story:
Muffin was a poor, sick, older SPCA dog that didn't have a good chance of getting a home. She was apparantly abandoned in a home and found by a neighbor who brought her and her 2 brothers to the SPCA. She was sick but wasn't getting the proper care becasue the SPCA claimed that she had kennel cough. I work at an animal hospital, so I believed that Muffin was meant to be with me so I could help her get well and give her a good home to live out her life in a loving environment. After having her examined at work, it was discovered that she had severe pneumonia and was being treated with the wrong medication. So, I got her on all the necessary medications and left her in isolation at the hospital. She finally got better after a few weeks. Next we had to deal with some other problems. She wasn't spayed, had HORRIBLE teeth, and had a strange mammory lump that needed to be removed. So we had all the necessary surgery done & had a biopsy done on her mass. In the end Muffy was left with 3 teeth and the lump turned out to be breast cancer that was, fortunately, removed soon enough not to spread. Muffin is now our little breast cancer survivor, complete with a pink ribbon breast cancer awareness collar and nametag.
