 Quick Bio:
 Birthday: April 2nd 1985
Likes: Riff was a total lap dog. After I put the boys to bed, she and I would curl up on the couch while I read. She also slept in my bed.

Pet-Peeves: Other dogs. She was never well socialized, just stayed at home with us. In the event she saw another dog, you would have thought she was a lion, she never backed down. Fortunately I never let her get out of my site.

Favorite Food: Riff was a picky eater. She didn't like beef or chicken but ate lamb & rice flavored dry food all her life.

Best Tricks: Riff was very much a dignified lady. Her best trick was just being beautiful and stately.

Arrival Story: Shortly after I married, my husband wanted us to get a dog. We were young and I didn't want the responsibility. Two years later, when we had our first son Brian, he got insistent. I held out until Brian was 15 months old. I began reluctantly scanning the newspapers for free puppies. One day I noticed an ad for free beagle mix puppies right in our neighborhood. We went to check them out. One of the adults there said the dogs were half beagle, half chow. Another said they were half beagle, half "whatever came by that night".
My husband was to choose one for he and my son to enjoy. Then I laid eyes on the cutest little white ball of fluff. She was sweetly curious but calm and relaxed. Everything else was a blur. She had stolen my heart. The guys chose one of her brothers and we came home with two dogs.
We had a great fenced in yard and they romped and played and had such a great time. My husband declared that they would be called Slim Jim (Slim & Jim) or Riff Raff (Riff & Raff). Given those choices I dubbed my little girl Riff and her brother Raff. As a pair, they were beautiful. Raff had short hair but the same coloring and was a bit taller and lankier. Riff had beautiful long, soft, white hair with carmel spots.

Bio: Busy with two toddlers and Riff being my first dog, I never really got her any toys or taught her to play. I just didn't know to. My family had always had dogs that were just part of everything we did but we certainly never spent money on dog toys. Nonetheless, she was our constant companion.
Later when we moved to an apartment we had to give Raff away. He needed a yard but Riff had become an inside dog.
Riff helped me raise three sons, loved me through a divorce and many other life changes. She sweetly accepted my new husband and loved every person who ever looked her way. Over the years, countless families offered to buy her. Eveyone who met her fell in love with her. She blessed me with 17 wonderful years until she had to be put to sleep. She fell asleep in my arms and left this world, taking my heart with her. I loved her deeply from the moment I saw her. Time does not lessen that love...

Rudy Mack, Reagan and I grieve with our human family as our beautiful 18 year old boy took his own life Monday, March 17, 2008.
I expect we won't be around much for a while.
We wish all our friends safety and health until we return.
Rudy Mack, Riff, Reagan and all the Spruill family.
