Dad's notes:

First, a moment to rember WHY we call this Memorial Day. Thanks to all who have or are now serving to keep America, America!

Second. I wonder if I can ever look a major Summer holiday in the face again. Just a year and a half ago, I took Sadie to the emergency vet over the Labor Day weekend because she was limping. That was the start of a process that resulted in two artificial knee jobs. (TPLOs)

Saturday first-thing-in-the-morning, I opened Spirit's crate door to let him out. As he got up, he gave a great YELP, came out of the crate and froze. I thought I might possibly have pinched him when opening the door...

I ended carrying him outside and wraped him in blankets. I wanted to give him time to recover if it was just the pinch or something simple. In short, that was not to be the case. He would hardly move.

After checking with Cindy my AARF foster supervisor, I rushed him to the emergency vet thinking he may have twisted his intestinse. He yelped a few times as I rolled over the somewhat bumpy road on the way.

As I write this, he has been under observation for 24 hours. I think the intestinse flip theory is out. The Vets can't decide if he has swallowed something soft like toy stuffing or parts that may be blocking his lower intestinse or if the has something viral in nature blocking him up.

They are giving him fluids and trying to get him to pass whatever is in him. If that does not work, it will be the major surgery to go in after the blockage.

His vitals are good and stable for now... That is all I know.

My poor dog, he has been through so much in less than a year on this world!
