Arrival Story: Maggie ended up on the porch of a friend of mine who already owned 3 Labs and was expecting her first child. She knocked on doors and talked to people to try to find the owner, to no avail. Maggie stayed with her overnight, was very well behaved and well groomed. Tearfully she had to take this little beauty to her local shelter. My friend was due at her own surprise baby shower that day and came in late with a tear streaked face telling the story of this little dog.
I had lost my little Cockapoo about a year before and had really decided our Golden was enough dog. But the more she talked about this little dog with a big personality, the more intrigued I became. I contacted the shelter, the dog was still being processed. The next week I contacted the shelter again, the dog was in quarantine. The next week my friend contacted the shelter, still the dog wasn't ready for adoption even though I had expressed an interest - site unseen. My husband and I went to the shelter, filled out adoption papers and saw her only in a bad snapshot. Finally 5 weeks after she had been dropped at the shelter, they called . . . it was time for a visit.
She was just a tiny, scared little thing, but obviously liked to be touched and was a real lap dog. I fell in love and took her home that day.

Bio: High energy, extremely smart and responds quickly to any training that involves something good to eat. She's got a short little bob tail so her whole butt wiggles when her tag wags. Her big ears always have her on guard. She has some cat-like tendencies or maybe mountain goat is a better description. She jumps, walks and sits on slender pieces of furniture, deck railings and laps with ease. She curls into a tiny little ball to sleep and has her own pillows in three different rooms. Her big brother Buster is an older Golden Retriever. They wrestle together in the back yard until she decides to run in huge, fast circles around him. And when they rest, he lies down, she stands on her front paws and backs up until her bottom sits comfortably on his back (or head, whatever is convenient for her). Quite the comedian, but she just wants to be loved and doesn't believe in sitting on the floor is there's an available lap!
