Good news! Dr. Becky Reardon says I'm 75% improved on my compressed discs! I have been on "bed rest" for over two months and lots of meds and acupuncture, photon laser treatments, and chiropractic treatments. Dr. Becky told Mom to start backing off gradually on my meds!

Wow, has this been a busy month! Last weekend, my obedience class and I did another demonstration at Tanglewood Retirement home. It was fun to meet all those Senior Citizens and get lots of loves.
Last Thursday night we did a demonstration at Harristown Elementary School for Family Reading Night. The principal opened the evening by reading one of the "Carl" books by Alexandra Day. Then she asked the kids if they would like to meet a real Carl, and Mom brought me out wearing a special bandana with the name Carl on it. I just love kids!!!
This weekend I had a dogshow on both Saturday and Sunday in Springfield, IL. I'm showing both in rally and obedience. I got my third "leg" in rally and got my first title. I'm a Rally Novice!! I get to put an RN after my name. (Mom says that does not make me a registered nurse.) I also received a special yellow ribbon for finishing third in my class. (I was the youngest in my class.)

This weekend I participated in my very first rally. It was at Champaign/Urbana, IL. I qualified both days! That means I have two legs on my first title. All I have to do is qualify once more and I'll have my RN--Rally Novice!!! It was so much fun! Mom and Dad are so proud of me!!!

Good news! I am feeling much better. Dr. Rajos says the fungus in my lungs has reduced, and I don't have to come back for two months. I just have to stay on my meds for a total of 6 months. My weight is back up to 88.5 pounds.
Last night was great fun! My pals at obedience class and I got to do an obedience demonstration at Tanglewood Senior Living Center. I even jumped over both obstacles when my mom told me to without being on a lead! Afterwards I got to meet all the seniors, and they all were so friendly to pet me. I also got to lie in the middle of half a dozen kids who came to watch. Cool!

I am battling this blastomycosis. I seem to have a little more energy. I still don't feel like eating much and have lost a total of eight pounds. My mom gives me hot dogs, chicken, hamburger, cheese...anything she can get me to eat. (I even got top sirloin one night!)
Dr. Rojas has upped my Fluconazole from 400 to 800 mg a day. She said to come back in one month for another xray.
My mom and dad are awful worried about me.

I'm a sick puppy. Last Saturday my mom took me to my vet because I was coughing and not eating, and I was diagnosed with an ear infection and maybe something more serious. Today I was diagnosed with a bladder infection. But these both hit me because my immune system is down.
After LOTS of tests--xrays, blood, urine, and lung biopsis--Dr. Rojas and Dr. Baker discovered I have blastomycosis, a rare fungal infection in my lungs. I'm on two different ear drops, Clavamox (amoxicilin for pets) and Fluconazole. Afterone week on the meds, I'm starting to eat a little more and cough a little less. Dr. Baker said we are very fortunate to have caught it in the early stages! My mom knows of two dogs who died from blastomycosis.
Last Saturday I was supposed to do an obedience demonstration with my class at Furry Scurry and this weekend I was to be in a rally meet in Peoria. My mom had to cancel both because I am on limited activity.

Woofstock, 2008,

On Saturday, June 28, I got to participate in the redo of Woofstock. (It got cancelled in May because of bad weather.) Three of Mom and Dad's five grandchildren were with me.
First I got to pull my wagon in the pet parade. Maddie rode in the wagon, and Mickey walked behind the wagon carrying a flag with my name on it. I wore my new green collar and my yellow bandana (with my name on it) to match my green and yellow wagon. (Elyssa didn't want to be in the parade. She's almost eleven and getting quite grownup.)
Then I got to give other kids rides in my wagon to raise money for Homeward Bound. They take care of abandoned and homeless pets until they get a forever home.
I really loved spending the day with all those kids and other dogs!

It's my birthday!!! I'm one year old today!!!

Mom and Dad got me a huge supply of gigantic ham soup bones for my present! I got to eat one, but had to put the rest in the freezer for later. It was delicious!!!

I'm going to get to pull my wagon around the neighborhood later today as soon as it warms up. Maybe I'll run into some neighborhood kids I can take for a ride. Mom and Dad are also going to take me to Rural King to visit some of my friends!

My mom and I went to my vet's today to pick up my heartworm meds, and they weighed me as usual. (I love to sit on the scale. The nice lady had to make me get off twice: first so she could turn it on and then to recalibrate it!)

I now weigh 89.2 pounds!!! I'm really getting to be a big girl. (Mom says I'm just a big sweetie!)

I also got to visit the nice lady at the feed and grain store, and Mom and I took a walk on the trails in Mt. Zion. Fun!!!
