Arrival Story:
Our little Odie was the best little dog a family could have. My husband went in search of finding a little dog for me. It took him weeks and once he saw her, he knew that she was perfect, but he had to hide her at friends as she was to be a surprise birthday present for me. When they told me to open this black box and it jumped I thought that I would pee my pants, I thought for sure they had done a practical joke and given me a rat. But it was love at first sight. It took several days to try to find the perfect name for her and Garfield's buddy "Odie" fit the bill, however her sister who had been with us for several years "Tequila" was not very happy with the new four legged edition to the family. About a week after we got her she got out and was hit by a car. It truly was a miracle that she survived, but her left front leg had severe nerve damage - thus where she gets the nick names "Kick Stand" and "Tri Pod." Well having only 3 legs did not slow her down. She loved to go out in the boat with us when we went water skiing - she had her very own perch, a couple of times she did fall out of the boat and because of her handicap she would swim around like a duck with only one flipper. She loved to chase squirrels all day long. All the kids in the neigborhood would come down to see if Odie could come out and play - she was very popular. One day she went over the the new neighbors house and was one of the first ones to greet them that would be Second Mommy Randee and Second Daddy Dave. When their cats passed on Mommy Randee decided she wanted to get a dog - then came Tweek - with Odie and Tweek it was a love/hate relationship - kinda like sisters. Then the got Tweek a brother so along came Snapper - of course Odie was the Queen of the Block so she would try to put him in his place. Then tragedy hit and Tweek was hit by a car, Mommy Randee was devastated, but she knew and Snapper would need a sister so along came Elsie. Poor Elsie was scared of Odie, but both Snapper and Elsie would let Odie come over and hang out and sometimes spend the weekend when we would go out of town. She loved going to Dave & Randee's house for "SNACK SNACK." Odie loved to sleep with us in the king size bed, of course the little dog syndrome - she took up all of the room including the pillows and covers. Then on December 5, 2006 came the worst day of our life we had to put Odie to sleep she had gone blind, was deaf and was just tired. She came into our lives at a party and she left our lives with a party as we were able to have her put to sleep at our home, with friends and family gathered. We really are not sure how old she was as she was adobted from the Animal Rescue League but we think that she was between 17 and 18 years old. She was the best dog, she could sit pretty, roll over, play dead and just loved to be around people. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't miss her - We Love you Odie and miss you so very much.

We really appreciate the gesture, but anytime Dogster comes out with the free zealie, we get inundated with sooooo many zealies it is terrible. mom uses this email as work also and it really clogs up the system and there is no way she can look at the messages for all 5 dogs on our account! We arent trying to be mean or spoil the fun, but it really does get overwhelming! Thanks so much everyone~
We loves you all!

Thank you so much GiGi for all your hard work with our poems!!

What a gift I got one year
it's something that became very dear

The box was black and to my surprise
it moved around in front of my eyes.

A RAT! I thought but luckily not
it was a puppy that I finally got.

Her name was Odie, quite a delight
full of love, she made my life bright.

Shes watching us now, from up above
she shares with us all of her love

Our Odie Lager, my lovely one
we will see you someday and have some fun.

To all of our wonder furiends on Dogster:

Some of you may know this about Mom and some of you don't. I know I have talked to a few pups about this (but I dont remember who right now, cept for Sunny Lee, RiRi, Coty, possibly Izzyboo and maybe even the Snickmeister...

Anyways, this is about my Mom..... She has finally come to the realization that she actually truly has STM (short-term memory).

It has been slowly coming on now for about a year or so and of course at first when Dad or one of her furiends would bring it up, she would poo poo them!

But apparently it is time to come clean and confess now. She thinks it would be easier to just post it in our diaries than to explain over and over again.

It seems that her long-term memory is just fine, and even things that happened like yesterday, but it is the very short-term (like in the last 3 to 5 minutes) that she is having problems with.

For example, she can read a thread and if there are more than one thing (or pups) she wants to respond to, but by the time she pulls up the reply box, she can't remember who or what she was going to say... You will notice that lots of our threads have been edited to add things!

Obviously this is a strange (and sometimes frustrating) situation for her to deal with, and prolly why she has been so cranky lately, but she has decided to embrace it since there isn't much she can do about it, and she does have a very good sense of humor, so please feel free to make fun or correct her mistakes so she can fix them, when she does furget BOL!

She just doesn't want any pup to tip-toe around it... Dad and everyone teases her all the time about it and she finds it kind of funny actually, specially when there is a story involved, it's like hearing a new story everytime! Might as well accept things the way they are right?

She just wants everypup to understand that if she gets a pup's name wrong or answers the wrong thread, they can feel free to tease about it! She actually thinks it makes life more interesting! You will NOT hurt her feelings at all!!!

She has started to keep a diary of sorts of all the SBU's (and any dogster pups that would like to give me their pawsonal information privately would be awesome (like names of parents and furblings and such information to be so helpful for her). Of course we would never share anything with anyone else. What happens in dogster stays in Dogster BOL!~ Hopefully that will help lessen the error of her ways BOL!

Anyhoo, I have rambled on long enough, if any of you have any questions or comments, I will be happy to respond (if she can remember). Thank you fur listening!

We Love you all!!!
