We have an 11 acre property that he likes to keep tabs on. Otherwise he likes to mark all the trees on our road.

Arrival Story:
Tomi adopted my family in July of '07. He was a stray that began to hang around our neighborhood. My kids fed him cookies and hot dogs, and eventually we began to earn his trust. He was extremely afraid of everything! I was eventually able to get him into a car to be checked out by a vet. No microchip was found and no one has attempted to claim him. The vet said because we live in a rural area, animals are often just "dropped off" and abandoned. Can you imagine?

Bio:
Happy Birthday!!! My boy has come a long way in the past year. He still gets nervous from time to time, but is enjoying social activities more and more. Just last week he went to a softball game at a very busy park. He was very well behaved and he got tons of compliments. Non-dog people allow us to visit their homes because he sits calmly at my feet, doesn't bother the cat, and doesn't smell like "dog". Many people are intrigued by him and will ask about him every time I take him out. He will sit to allow new people he meets to feel his amazing, fuzzy coat. He has become quite the begger! He dashes to the kitchen every time he hears a person in there looking for food. He has learned the names of his favorite foods and will ask for them! Taking him for walks used to be torture for us both. I would have to chase him around the kitchen island for at least half an hour to get his leash on. Then, the slightest noises would cause him to either jump and run, or throw himself on his side and scream like he was being tortured. Now, he loves, loves, loves going for walks. He will begin to dance around and make his silly Shiba noises when he sees me putting my Nikes on. He has come a long way since he found us, and I am very glad he did. He has been an amazing, unexpected gift.
