A walk in town

The other night I got to be the bye-bye dog and go into town with Mommy for a walk! We enjoyed the cool evening as we walked around the hospital where Mommy works.

They are opening a new wing and there was a big tent up and lots of people in suits and dresses celebrating the grand opening. We walked by them and Mommy was enjoying the view.

Then... I had to make a poop. Mommy was surprised and worried as I squatted right down on the nice bark by the nice gardening in front of the new building. Luckily she had a baggie and was able to clean up my poopers before anyone saw!

I made a contribution to the new hospital wing! I consider it a donation, hehehehe!

a scary thing happened

We got our walkies in the evening today, and at first it was so wonderful! It was cool and windy and cloudy and moist out! I was sniffing lots and marking lots (peepee!).

Well, you know how I'm scared of loud sounds? We were on our way home when the scariest sound of all happened.... first there was a lightening... and then there was a THUNDER!!!

I did not panic, but I was very worried and I pulled Mommy all the way home even though I was wearing my front ring harness designed to help me not pull too hard. Mommy says we were lucky that there was only one thunder! I have to agree. But she says she is proud of me for not panicking, and I have to say I'm proud of myself too!

Hope there is no thunder tomorrow on my walk, although I sure like when it rains and makes everything smell so good!

loud sound.... but I kept walking!

In the past, banging sounds in the distance would be the end of my walkie! I would get so scared and just pull and pull to get home.

Today me and Autumn and Mommy were on our walkie and all of a sudden, in the distance, I heard Hammering!! HORRORS!!

I got nervous...

I darted around on the end of my leash...

Autumn kept walking calmly and Mommy said, "come on Amy, it's okay" in her happy voice...

And I slowly relaxed and continued along with Autumn and Mommy, even when some more hammering happened.

Mommy is very proud of me, and Autumn seemed happy too that we didn't turn around and go home as soon as I got spooky.

A nice morning....

I have had a very nice morning!

I barked and barked first thing in the morning to help Mommy wake up. I sleep in the bedroom, so this barking is up close and very effective... she woke right up! Sammy helped me by jumping on the bed and nudging her lots and lots. I think she must love this stuff since it always gets her out of bed and opening the back door and feeding us!

Then I went for a walk with Mommy and Autumn. It was kinda warm out so we didn't go very far. We did get some sniffies in, and we saw some dogs behind a fence that barked at us a lot. Me and Autumn didn't bark back though. I am barky in the house, and Autumn loves to bark in the car at strangers she sees through the windows, but neither of us bark much on walks. Weird, huh?

Then Mommy took me and Sammy on a car ride to the gas station, and Mommy got us a meat stick! I think this is a training treat, and she was rewarding us for putting hairs all over the inside of the car and weaving them into the nice black seats. We are good doggies!

Now I am relaxing and playing on Dogster and waiting till later to see if Mommy decides to take us on an evening walkie since our morning one was short!

I am getting less and less afraid of stuff!

Guess what doggie friends!

I have always been a spooky doggie and I get scared easy, especially of sounds and new places. But Mommy has really been working with me and taking me more and more places for walks and to meet new dogs and people and I am so much less afraid than I used to be! I don't react to loud sounds hardly at all now!

My most recent fun trip was a walk with Mommy's friend and her doggie McKinty! It was so fun!

Mommy says she might take me running with her!

Guess what!

My Mommy says she might take me running with her! I am very energetic and agile and I could really use a good way to burn off energy.

She hasn't taken me running in the past because I get very nervous if I hear a loud sound... so we always just go for short walks in quiet places. But lately I have been better on walks, and we've gone to some new places. So now she is thinking I might enjoy some running!

I will bark at you about my first run, which will be this week!

Halloween is coming!

Halloween is coming, and that means 3 things!!

First, it means tricks! My favorite trick is "high five!" and I am great at it!

Second, it means treats (just ask Sammy, he is the expert on treats) and I am sure Mommy has some special Halloween treats planned for us doggies!

Third, it means KIDS, and I LOVE KIDS!! Mommy is sure that I knew children in my home before I ended up in the shelter because I am SO EXCITED when I see a kid! I am hoping that some kids come to the door and pet me when they get their treats (Mommy says we don't get a lot of trick-or-treaters here, we live in a quiet neighborhood, but I can always hope).

My bestest play friend!

So.... when Autumn first came to live here, I played with her a bit, but I'd also chase her away sometimes when she tried to play with me... I guess I just wasn't totally comfortable yet.

But now she is my bestest play friend! We play and play and play every day! We play lots of times a day, and we wrestle and run all around until we are all tired out! She has the same play style as me -- very active! -- and we are a great match for playing! Mommy says Autumn has been very good for me... and I'm thinking that I agree!

I got a haircut!

Yesterday I got a new haircut!

My hair gets quite long, especially on my little wiggle-butt. Lately, as I go for my morning walkie, I have been picking up lots of burrs... in fact, I'm not only picking up burrs, but sometimes the WHOLE PLANT gets stuck in my fur and drags along behind me! YIKES!

So yesterday when I went to the groomer -- not my favorite thing, mind you, although I do always feel great afterward -- Mommy had Jen, my groomer, give me a haircut. Not shaved of course, Mommy loves my soft coat, but I got trimmed up quite a bit! Mommy says I look adorable, like a plushy toy...

And you know what, I DO feel a lot better! And on this morning's walk, I didn't pick up a single burr or plant!

And you know what makes me feel even better than getting groomed? The In-N-Out hamburger patty I get after I go to the groomer! YUMMY!

Hey! I'm a daily diary pick!

What fun! I can't stop barking big happy barks! I'm a daily diary pick! YAY!!

Today was a fun day since I got to go for an extra long morning walk and I also got more play sessions with the Pumpkin dog! Of course, I have to be at least a little temperamental, she wanted to play this evening but I would have none of it and I barked at her. I'll probably play with her again tomorrow though, heehee, just got to keep her on her toes!

Guess what else was fun today! I got ground turkey in my breakfast and in my dinner! I love it when Mommy cooks yummy stuff for us!
