My new furever Mom volunteers at our local SPCA taking all the homeless pups photos and maintaining their Petfinder site. They called her last Thursday to ask her to come in as they had some new pups to photo. They also warned her that they had a beautiful little beagle girl there who came in as a stray. See, Mom needs to be warned of these things because .... shhhhh ... she's a beagleholic!!!!!!!! I think they need a 12 step program for that.
So Mom "prepares" herself and comes into the shelter on Friday .... takes one look at my eyes, and that's it, it's all over but the cryin'. So, she calls Dad, who like her, is also a beagleholic and pleads my case. Dad says "what the heck, what's one more" ... so YIPPEE ... off I go to my new furever home. We get "home" and I find I have beagle brothers and a beagle sister and I'm lovin' life! We played and romped all the rest of the day. Come supper time, Mom notices that I don't want to eat ANYTHING ... not like a beagle at all, especially since my new Mom home cooks for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then, when I went out to do my "business", Mom noticed I had diarrhea and passed it off as stress and a change in diet. Well, I woke her up around 3AM 'cause I wanted to be very good and show her I could tell her when I had to go out. So, out I go and Mom notices I was straining a bit. So she grabs the flashlight and out she comes, in jammies and slippers to find that my diarrhea has now turned to blood!!!!!!!!! So after pacing from 3AM until the vet opened at 9AM, and we showed up on his doorstep unannounced, she kept giving me Pedialyte to keep me hydrated.
When we get to the vets, we get bad news .... I have Parvo Virus!!!!!!!!! Well, I'm now in the hospital and haven't even got to enjoy my newfound home :-(. They called Mom last night and told her that although my diarrhea was still bloody, I was very perky and showing no signs of lethargy at all and was not vomiting which are all good signs so far, but I think I still have a way to go before I'm considered out of the woods. They told Mom that I was a real little love sponge and Mom really wants me to fully recover and come home so she can soak up that beagley lovin'.
