Although I knew that I wanted a brindle chihuahua, I was not planning to get a dog. Instead, I volunteered to walk dogs at my local shelter, BARC, and out came Bessie. She had been rescued from the city shelter and brought to BARC with five puppies and a sibling. Needless to say, I took her home.
