Not getting to always go wherever Maven goes.

Favorite Toy:
Tennis balls!

Favorite Food:
Jumbones! & cheese!

Favorite Walk:
anywhere, anytime, anyplace!

Best Tricks:
He can hold 3 tennis balls in his mouth at one time. I guess that underbite is working to his advantage!

Arrival Story:
Orson was picked as a "brother" for our other Rottie, Maven. The breeder offered me the pick of the litter, with a lot of show/schutz/etc stipulations. Instead, we picked Orson! He was the runt of the bunch, and had a bad underbite, but since my hubby was a runt (preemie) himself, he wanted him. He had a lot of feist & spirit against his other siblings! We don't regret our decision one iota!

Orson has had some medical issues, he has bad discs in his neck. Surgery is an option, but there are no guarantees that it would work, and would be terribly invasive, so we just pray that the time doesn't come that we will be faced with that. He had 2 bad episodes where he couldn't walk, and was in agonizing pain, and could not move his head without screaming in pain. He did respond to steroids quickly, so the specialist said if it happens again, that would be the treatment of choice, more meds. After the CT scans, MRI's, myleograms, and many other tests, we could have bought a new Dogmobile-Suburban, but Orson is such a sweetie, there is no way we wouldn't do whatever he needed! When he was 4 months old, he was attacked by another dog who "loved puppies", and we feel this is the root cause of the damage to his spine & discs. As a result, he does not like other dogs to be around him except for his May May, even though he spent much time in obedience class & at my work. He is not aggressive towards them, but doesn't want to be around them! July of 2008, he had a third episode of neck pain that never fully resolved, so on August 25, 2008, we began the journey down the road to holistic care and acupuncture for our boy. He has only had the one treatment, but we are optimistic that this is the right thing for him, and have had much encouragement from many fine peeps! The saga of the Obud continues.........

Today was my Sixth Acupuncture Appointment!

I went today to get my sixth acupuncture appointment, we had last week off to see how I did, and I am doing GREAT! Mom says I am rambunctious, obnoxious, and feelin fine and frisky! Hehehe, that is all good, by the way, that means I am feeling like Obud again! I even played out in the yard a little with my Jolly Ball! Not like mom used to play with me, but close enough. She says I still have to be careful for awhile.

When we got to the vet place, I was being real good, and mom was relieved that the German Shepherd Cop Dawgs weren't there again, and no sign of any other dogs either, just a couple of cars. She got me out, and we went right inside, no big deal! But THEN, I saw a little white dog on wheels, and he was being scooted around on the floor by MY doctor! Mom pulled my bandana over my eyes and stuffed the cheeburger on my face, and I forgot alll about that weird little guy. Mom said Dr. Deanne was helping him to learn to use his new legs, but all I saw was wheels!

Then we went into my usual room, I had a drink, and mom took more pictures of me, no surprise there! Doctor Deanne came in, and I gave her big ol wet jowl smoochies, and her assistant too! She asked how I was doing, and was really happy to hear I was feeling so well! We all layed on the floor, and today I got 17 pins, for 15 minutes. I was real good, and only tried to get up once. Then I got my chiro work done. Doc says mom needs to work on my hips, the muscles there are pretty tight, so she showed mom how to stretch my legs for me. Then, we were allll done! Mom let me finish my cheeburger (yes it was a double! hehehee!) and then she went to pay my bill and left me in the room.

On the way out, mom put my danna over my face again and walked me out really fast. Seems there was a little French Bulldog in a pink sequined dress, sitting smack dab in the middle of the waiting room, and she didn't want me to see it, which I didn't. But mom says to tell you all it was a pretty ridiculous sight to behold!!! Mom thinks I wouldn't have barked at that poor pup, but rolled on the floor laffin my tail off!!! Ooops, that's right, I ain't got no tail, but I woulda laughed anyways!!!

Doc says since I am doing sooo great, she wants to see how I do waiting even longer between appointments, so our next one is gonna be on Monday the 27th. Hmmm, 3 weeks with no cheeburger??? Gonna have to talk to the momma 'bout THAT!

My Fourth Acupuncture Appointment, and First Chiropractic- adjustment!

OK, appointment number 4 is over, but was it ever tense when we got there!

See, the place right next door is where they train the Police Dogs for Lake County. As (bad) luck would have it, they were training right in the parking lot!!! 20 German Shepherds, and 20 cops!!!

I was freakin big time, lunging and yowling!!!! Mom held me by the harness with her right hand and called the Doc with her left, and they got me right inside to my favorite room. Once I was in, I kept tryin to look out the window, so they closed the blinds. I KNEW they were still out there, GRRRRRRR!!!!!

BUT, then mom opened her backpack, and guess what I got??? Yesss!!! A DOUBLE CHEEBURGER!!! Whooo-HOOOO!!!!!! I forgot alllll about those GSD coppers!

I did really great, had both acu (15 needles, 10 minutes) AND a chiropractic exam and adjustment. I cried just a little bit when they tried to turn me over, and Doc said my left hip is a bit inflamed. So I should use some heat/ice treatment this afternoon, and have momma rub my hip and left shoulder too today. Mom gave me some pain pills and muscle relaxer once we got home.

Now I be home, chillin out, and thanking Jas for her fabulous Rice Heat Bags she made for me with loooooooove!!!!!

Next appointment is more of the same, in 1 week!

Hmmm, I wonder, will I get a TRIPLE CHEEBURGER next week???

Thanks again for the Heat Packs, sweet Jas!!!!

Third Acu Appointment went Great!

Today I went in for my THIRD acupuncture treatment! Woo hoooo!

I did really good today, I only freaked out once at another dog, and I got 15 needles for 12 minutes. Adding to my toothpick collection , hehehee!!!! But, I only gots ONE cheeburger, hmmmm.....

Doc Deanne says I am doing really well, and that we will go again in one week, for another acu treatment, and also a chiropractic adjustment. She is really pleased with how I am doing!! And, mom is soooo happy, she could just about cry! I am feeling really really goooood!!!!!!!!

When we got home, momma had a surprise for us- new Bobos!!!!! A pink one for Mavey Gravey, and a blue one for meeee!!! But, it is only a matter of time til we get jealous and steal from each other, so don't think I'm a froo-froo if ya see me with a Pink Bobo, hehehe!

I didn't want to wear the same bandana I have the last two times, so mom did something really special- she opened up the Doggie Curio cabinet, and took out one of Angel Vessie's many bandanas. This one is yellow, and says Spoiled Rotten. I got lotsa compliments today on it, they loooooooove me there! Hehehe, my new bandana I wore today sez it all!!!

I'll be dancing again in no time!!!!
