Arrival Story: Orson was picked as a "brother" for our other Rottie, Maven. The breeder offered me the pick of the litter, with a lot of show/schutz/etc stipulations. Instead, we picked Orson! He was the runt of the bunch, and had a bad underbite, but since my hubby was a runt (preemie) himself, he wanted him. He had a lot of feist & spirit against his other siblings! We don't regret our decision one iota!
Bio: Orson has had some medical issues, he has bad discs in his neck. Surgery is an option, but there are no guarantees that it would work, and would be terribly invasive, so we just pray that the time doesn't come that we will be faced with that. He had 2 bad episodes where he couldn't walk, and was in agonizing pain, and could not move his head without screaming in pain. He did respond to steroids quickly, so the specialist said if it happens again, that would be the treatment of choice, more meds. After the CT scans, MRI's, myleograms, and many other tests, we could have bought a new Dogmobile-Suburban, but Orson is such a sweetie, there is no way we wouldn't do whatever he needed! When he was 4 months old, he was attacked by another dog who "loved puppies", and we feel this is the root cause of the damage to his spine & discs. As a result, he does not like other dogs to be around him except for his May May, even though he spent much time in obedience class & at my work. He is not aggressive towards them, but doesn't want to be around them!
