 Quick Bio:
Likes: He goes on the "donut ride" with my every morning to get Hayden donutes. He gets so excited he runs in circles.

Pet-Peeves: He would rather not share any people food with any of the others. He gets a little irrated that there is competition.

Favorite Toy: These cool toys made by Milk Bone.

Favorite Food: Meat, chicken, cheese, bread, pasta, cataloupe, sweet pototoe, strawberries.

Favorite Walk: He loves to walk anywhere.

Best Tricks: Sit, lay and shake. He already had these tricks down when I brought him home.

Arrival Story: I found him on petfinder at the Fort Worth Animal Shelter. He was the cutest dog there, but very very skinny, really nothing by fur and bones. I visited him 3 times before I decided to adopt him. The dogs at this shelter are not heart worm tested until someone fills out the paper work to adopt them. The heart worm tested Curly and it came back positive for heart worms! I left the shelter without Curly. Not sure why, except that I didn't understand that treating the heartworms is not that big of a deal. That night I researched my options and learned about carecredit.com. I applied and was approved for $4k work of vet work. The payment plans are either no interest for a year or a very small interest rate for up to 36 months. So, the next day I went back for him. The minute Curly saw me, he knew me from visiting him. Next task was introducing Curly to Indy and Lula and our house guest Halo. I had watched a Dog Whisper where he introduced a new dog to him pack. So, I started with the least dominate, Indy. Then Lula, then our house guest, Halo (who belongs to my brother). All went great. You can see Curly taking his first nap at his new home in one of the pictures below. The next day Curly was showing signs of Kennel Cough. We went to the vet and now he is being treated for Kennel Cough, eye irritation and a yeast infection in both ears. He looks so miserable. I can't wait for him feel better. It's heartbreaking to see him so miserable.UPDATE 2/18/08- Curly has now completed his 1st round of Heart Worm treatment. He is going to have to complete another 2 injections. The vet is givingi him 3 weeks in between treatments. I've started training him. My goal is to train him as a therapy dog for children's hospitals.
UPDATE 6/15/08- Curly is now finished his heart worm treatment and has put on a total of 30 lbs. He is now lean and trim, exactly where he is supposed to be. So you can image him 30 lighter! Now I'm trying to decide what cut I should give him. His hair is so much fun! UPDATE 7/2/2008- Curly has new playmate, Lilly!

Curly plays alone with Wilson as much as he plays with Lilly. Normally the dogs play in pairs, but with Wilson in the house, Curly, Lilly & Wilson all three play and are having a ball.

No more Kennel Cough! My skinny curly boy is eating Pedigree puppy food and he has gained 10 lbs in 17 days, which means this poor baby just didn't have access to food. The list of Curly tricks is increasing as the weeks go by. Now I know he can open the front glass door, lift the toilet seat up (I guess he was used to drinking from the toilet?? Yuck!) and he can open my bathroom door. I close it when my parrots are in the shower with me. Curly simply puts his paw under the door and brings the door to him and it's open. He comes in a lays in front of the shower. I love my Curly boy!
Tomorrow, neutering, eye surgery and teeth cleaning. Four weeks later, heart worm treatment.

Oh lord, now we are experiencing the Boogers that come with Kennel Cough. I've got to clean his nose at least 3 times a day. I don't mind cleaning it at all, but poor old Curly boy doesn't like it. I'm sure his big ole nose is sore. Even though he appears sicker, he is acting like he has a little bit of energy today. He even joined Indy and Lula in their howls in response to the fire truck siren.
