Mom has not been able to bring herself to write for me or about me since my leaving for the bridge. She is still sad but she wanted me to thank everyone for remembering my birthday yesterday.
It was spent with the wonderful angel furs. We had lots of fun. There was Pumpkin chucking (now that was Cool); a new fur-iend showed me where the milk fountain was (yummy) and being with my family angels has been exciting.
I want to say thank you to Callie Rose & The B&G Club, Crystal and Cammy for the Fabuloso Birthday cards. I loved the wishes from the beautiful ladies. ;)
Thank you for the Birthday gifts:
George, Merry, families and The Dog house;
Angel Rebby;
The family of Otto, Angel Sophie, Sagwa, Daisy, and Skylar;
My Buddy Rosco P Coltrane;
Angel Zeusie;
Tinkerbelle and Angel Natasha;
Angel Brewster - he helped me chuck my pumpkin with the cannon;
Abbie, Charlie, Teddy, Maggie, Sam, Max, and more.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I love you each one and please know how much your kindness has meant to me and my family.
Love & Licks,
Luke
**I have as yet to write my goodbye to Luke and I am still not ready. I long to feel his kiss on my chin/neck. I miss petting him and feeling him lean against me. It is still unreal.
Thank you for being so kind in thinking of Lukey Duke on his Special Day.
Love,
Mary

I will be celebrating my 5th birthday tomorrow. While Slippers was born on Mom and Dad's anniversary; Mom chose the 15th for me, that is her parents' anniversary (their 51st tomorrow). The date was based on how old the vet said I was when I came to their house.
I was a wee pup then, about 6 weeks. I have grown a bit and I still manage to get into trouble. In fact Mom has volunteered to give me a birthday spanking, she says I really deserve one. I am a little embarrassed (just a little) but I was goofing off and would not move when Mom needed me too, and I cause her to smash her little finger on her left hand with a sheet of plywood yesterday. It is swollen today, numb and the end joint is purple. She was trying to keep the board from hitting me, when I would not move, and that was how she smashed her finger. But it caught me and she was so worried; but I was just fine. Went running around like nothing.
Guess what, even though I may have been a naughty boy yesterday, Mom still picked me up my FAVORITE treat for tomorrow--HOT DOGS!! YES!! I love them. You know all I have to do is smile at her, kiss her and she forgives all. ;)
I cannot wait to see what else Mom and Donald have planned for me. I heard Donald talking about watching fireworks tomorrow evening at a local festival, I know they are for me, now to get him to take me too. Maybe I can sneak in the car.... I wonder.
Love,
Luke

October's Party
By: George Cooper
October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."
