Wow, it is hard to believe that I am 14 now. It just seems like a couple of months ago that I turned 13. Boy these years just pass by.
Today is also Special at our house, because it is Mom and Dad's wedding Anniversary. They have been married 28 years; which means I have been with them now for half of their married life (the best half if I do say so myself)!! Which Dad is out on the truck, so they will be celebrating next weekend since Mom had to Bella-sit this past weekend.
I was born in the early morning hours on a Saturday morning. I had 7 litter-mates. Boy did we keep our Momma Nakoma busy. Four of my litter-mates went to other homes; and if you have read my bio you may already know, that 2 bros and 1 sis went to the bridge after we came down with Parvo. I was the only one who survived. One of my sisfurs went to the bridge during the tainted food scare. The other 3 we do not know about.
I have already had my Birthday treat today. Momma and I both had a special treat for just us; while the others had Milk-bones. Mom has sung to me a few times. She has to Bella-sit tonite, so she will not see me until she is home early in the morning.
I am enjoying my day, it is so nice outside. The leaves are falling and it is pleasant. We are expecting rain, but that's okay, I can use the extra napping time.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day.
God Bless and Love,
Slippers

October's Party
By: George Cooper
October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came—
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
The Chestnuts came in yellow,
The Oaks in crimson dressed;
The lovely Misses Maple
In scarlet looked their best;
All balanced to their partners,
And gaily fluttered by;
The sight was like a rainbow
New fallen from the sky.
Then, in the rustic hollow,
At hide-and-seek they played,
The party closed at sundown,
And everybody stayed.
Professor Wind played louder;
They flew along the ground;
And then the party ended
In jolly "hands around."

My Christmas Wish For You
My Christmas wish for you, my friend
Is not a simple one
For I wish you hope and joy and peace
Days filled with warmth and sun
I wish you love and friendship too
Throughout the coming year
Lots of laughter and happiness
To fill your world with cheer
May you count your blessings, one by one
And when totaled by the lot
May you find all you've been given
To be more than what you sought
May your journeys be short, your burdens light
May your spirit never grow old
May all your clouds have silver linings
And your rainbows pots of gold
I wish this all and so much more
May all your dreams come true
May you have a Merry Christmas friend
And a happy New Year, too ..

We would like to wish all of our Dear Friends a Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanksgiving Delights
On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!

I celebrated my 12th Birthday last Sunday (Oct 11th) and mom/dad celebrated their 26th Anniversary. What a day to party. Mom says I still look as good as ever, just a few gray hairs on my face. I had my favorite treat, a marrow bone, those are DEEELicious!! Extra hugs and mom sang a couple of times.
So many dear friends sent me gifts, pics and wishes. They made me feel so warm and loved. What more could an old gal wish for, except that my friends also know that they are loved!!
Love,

Thanks Haley Belle (791066) for the tag.
Here are the rules. Read my diary. Write in your own diary 7 things about yourself. Send pmails to 7 of your own pals, can be anyfur, those who have NOT been tagged yet and tell them to read your diary for instructions. I like to include new members to make them feel welcome, an it is a great way to make new furriends.
1. I survived parvo when I was 10 weeks old.
2. Nakoma is my momma.
3. I was named Slippers because my paws are white.
4. I prefer marrow dog treats to just regular dog food type dog bones.
5. I'm pretty quiet. If I start barking my head off, then something is not right (usually a stray or a car that has stopped).
6. I do not like having my picture taken. I move around constantly. Mom tried to get some nice ones with my Secret Santa (Binx)'s gift of a pretty bandana, but I wouldn't stop pacing. I don't like cameras!!!
7. I am afraid of being near the creek when it is up after a rain. The noise scares me.
I will tag my 7 furs now.

I was born in the early hours of October 11, 1997. It was my mommie and dad's 14th anniversary. Yesterday I turned 11 years old and they celebrated their silver anniversary.
I have received so many gifts from my wonderful friends here on Dogster, I am keeping mommie busy thanking everyone. I love all of my gifts and so many treats (I'll share the bones, I promise). There is a bear from the sweet Fur Angel Daniel, cake of flowers and a heart rosette from Zoe and even Strawberry Shortcake (at least I think that is who she is) from Pippin and his wonderful family. A lovely cake from Spanky and the Fancy Pants Cafe (and a pumpkin rosette too) and a wonderful cake, with ME on it, from the Doghouse crew. Stewart sent a cake too, one that matched the balloons on the page, so colorful and beautiful. I even have cupcakes from George and his family and Pippin and his family (again). Also a party hat, now what's a party without a hat??? That was sent by the lovely Lady Chewee Bear and her family.
I even got a football rosette from a witch, no, no. Just a beautiful black cat in a witch costume, the sweet ReeRee (Reanan). Lexy and her lovely family sent me a pumpkin too. I love this time of year, I think it is the best for celebrating birthdays.
I haven't even mentioned the songs. The Doghouse sent me The Birthday Song by Sesame Street (how nice) and the Summerville Seven sang for me (so beautiful) and a wonderful duet from Noah and Clay.
Thanks to everyone for messages that were sent. They were, as the saying goes, the icing on the cake. The Birthday Party for me at The Best Little Doghouse in Dogster was AWESOME. Mommie and I both had tears from how nice every fur was to me. Everyone has so been so sweet. God Bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
Slippers

One of these days I am going to get my mommie trained. So that she will give us special treats everyday. When we do not get a special treat, we get a large doggie biscuit for a treat. I really don't appreciate those. I like the other treats (meat filled bones, hot dogs once in a while, or deli meat) and would not mind having them everyday. But no, she just does not agree with me on this matter. I think I am going to have to learn how to brain wash her into giving us those tasty treats everyday. Perhaps if I repeat: good treats only, good treats only, good treats only and click my paws together, maybe it will happen. Let's see: good treats only, good treats only, good treats only--click, click--mmmmmmmmmm. Nothing!!!!!! Maybe I'll just have to keep trying.....:) Slippers

My mommie was sad to read about the 2 puppies that have parvo. How terrible. You see I got parvo with my brother Bear when we were 10 weeks old. Mommie had not taken us to get our vaccinations yet. She had plans to take us after finding homes for the others in the litter. You see when our mother was spayed, I was taken to see the vet when mommie picked up Nakoma (our mother). I had a rupture and mommie wanted to make certain it was safe to wait until I was spayed to have it taken care of. We think that one of us (Mommie, mother or I) brought the disease back from the vet's office. Bear came down with it first on Sunday, mommie thought he had a tummie ache, he did eat a little mashed potatoes, but that was all. So Monday she called to take him to the vet, and they couldn't see him until the afternoon. Then I began to vomit. She brought us both inside with her. Warmed towels in the dryer and played gospel music (which seemed to calm us). When I had to potty I wanted outside, then mommie would come and get me and bring me back in. On the way to the vet, Bear began crying. He got really loud. At the vet's office, he did a really loud cry and passed away with Donald holding him. The vet said we had parvo and it could have been prevented with vaccines. I stayed at the vet's for 4 nights. Mommie tried to help 2 more litter mates, Teddy and Roxie, by giving them Pedialyte round the clock. Thursday, of that week was Christmas day (Roxie was suppose to be mommie's niece's Christmas gift). Very early Friday morning Roxie passed away. Then Teddy was taken to the vet's and he agreed that Teddy was severe too. So, mommie asked that he not suffer and said goodbye. She brought me home then. I barked at her all the way home. I never shut up, I was so glad to come home, yet I wanted to know why she had left me there for so long. Of four pups at home I was the only one to survive. There were 3 other pups sick with Parvo at the vets, they did not make it. Mommie says I am very lucky (altho she doesn't like that term, BLESSED says it more). :) Slippers
