Life of a Wild Child

Err, yeah...About that agility thing. {FAIL!}

I'm now an agility drop out. Can't do it. Mom says I just don't enjoy it. I never run, I always lollygag. This really disappointed Mom.

And now, Mom has hopes for therapy dog. -sigh- If I can't pass my CGC test, how does she expect me to be a therapy dog?! But we'll try. The next time a CGC test rolls around, we'll be trying again. Ever since the dog bite, though, I've been cautious around everything. We'll just have to see!

As always, there is good news and there is bad news...

Dear Diary-

Yep, its true. There is some very good news, and some very bad news as well. Good news first. Well, the only sign that I was ever bitten is my scabs. They'll probably stay, but they aren't really noticable at all! WOO HOO! And! I can run really fast again! I'm starting to play with Mickey and even Jake more now!

Bad news now...Mom says I most likely have dog asthma. She looked it up and I have all the symptoms, the vet might just have to be the judge of this, though, when we get in. Whenever I'm outside running around or playing with Mickey, a few minutes later I'll be coughing and gagging. How is this VERY bad news? Well, as you know, I've been training in Agility since September and I've actually made really good progress. I was FINALLY starting to get the hang of it! I had been doing awesome. But now, if I have dog asthma, Mom really doesn't want me training in Agility. We haven't practiced for 2 weeks, so Mom isn't sure if I'll be ok with it or not. We'll just have to wait and see...Another update comin' at ya on Sunday after training class.

Sincerely,
Iz

Once again...An Update!

Dear Diary,

Sorry I haven't updated in a while, Mom hasn't been able to get to a computer for a few days. So did you see my pictures? Well, good news- My tummy is looking soooo much better! I'm still not feeling my best, I'm still sore and everything and can't go to training class tonight [well, its for two reasons, this being one of them], but you can hardly tell I got bitten at all...Well...You can still see the bites, but its progress!

But bad news. The second reason I can't go to training class today is I got a cold..At least we think it is... =[ Mom has no clue how, but on Thursday night I was laying with Mom and all of a sudden I was coughing and coughing for 4 minutes and Mom couldn't make me stop! I do this coughing for maybe 30 seconds when I eat too fast and Mom rubs my throat and I stop...But Mom was rubbing my throat over and over again and I couldn't stop coughing! She gave me water too, nada! And then the sneezing- Oh the sneezing! I can't stop sneezing, Mom thinks it is either allergies or a doggie cold. Not sure which. We'll probably be calling the vet tomorrow if I don't stop, though. But in the meantime, Mom looked it up on the internet and saw that she has to keep me dry and warm...Oh darn, and she was gonna give me a bath today- guess it'll have to wait ;]

Until next time,
Iz

Today's Update

Dear Diary-

Well, its been quite a tough day. Mom didn't go anywhere today and stayed home with me. She took pictures of my tummy [where I got bitten] It only started bleeding once today, though. Which isn't bad. I got my antibiotic wrapped in ham this morning so it doesn't get infected so I'm good in that department.

But aside from the looks of the bites, there is some other stuff. Stuff that makes Mom extremely sad. I used to absolutely love people, especially Mom and her Mom. But today I ran from both of them and hid under the bed all day and sat there, staring off into space. I've also just been plain walking around the whole upstairs of the house, emotionless. Mom thinks its either pain or I'm grumpy. She's leaning towards pain. She tried giving me my pain medicine, but its liquid and has to be given from a syringe [sp?]-that stuff is NASTY. Mom even says it smells bad. And I have also always loved our neighbor, but when she came today I barked my head off at her and ran. I have never acted this way. Mom thinks it could possibly be because I've suddenly lost the trust of all people and dogs because of yesterday. The only dog I will approach now is Mickey. And even then, he can't approach me, I have to approach HIM. Mom thinks it is because Mickey tried to protect me from the other dogs, she doesn't know this, though, because Jake was trying to do the same thing, and I don't want to be near him today. Just this thought brings tears to Mom's eyes, yes, she is an emotional person.

So keep watching for more updates and check back soon for pictures.

Sincerely,
Iz

Just not a fun day!

Dear Diary,

Its me, Iz. As my Mom told you earlier, I got attacked this morning. And then I went to the vet. Yep. But I didn't much mind walking in that door, for once! I got in there and the vet identified that yes, it was in fact bite marks for sure. I got some pain medicine...Lots of it...The vet said that I would be in a bunch of pain for the next few days. I keep biting at the wounds and licking them, so I'm still bleeding while Mom cleans me up every once in a while. So then I was ready to come back home and snuggle with Mom on the bed. But then, oh no. This was not the case. The shots came out. Turns out, I was due for my vaccinations this week, anyway! So now I'm slowly walking around the house, sleepy from the shots and in pain from the bites.

But Mom thanks God [even though I thought it was Dog..Hmm..Must figure that one out] that I am still alive. If those dogs had gotten ahold of me anymore than they had, I might not be able to be here typing this to you.

Happy to be alive,
Izzy

P.S.- I wanna know how Mickey and Jake got off easy today!

I need some prayers here...

Izzy's Mom speaking...

Hello, Dogsters. This morning, Izzy is in some need of your prayers. About an hour ago, Izzy was outside playing with Mickey and Jake. All of a sudden, with the closed door, we hear a yelping. Knowing it was Izzy, we started freaking out and running out to see what happened. Yelping isn't the right word, she sounded like she was being torn in two... I didn't want to go out and see what happened. I ran down the deck stairs and saw the dogs crowded around our fence. I couldn't see anything other than that. I ran back up the deck stairs and looked over. That was when I saw two Pit Bulls at our fence door [closed, thank God] and that was when I ran downstairs to try and gather up my dogs. By this time, all dogs were growling at each other and Izzy was still yelping. It took a while for me to get Izzy. A few days ago, she had wiggled herself under that same fence and ran around the neighborhood, I knew she would do this again to get at these dogs. But, finally I got them all in. I went back inside and looked out the front window. These pups were now in our front yard going to the bathroom. I believe it was a mother and her son, not sure though, but no tags or collars. And then they went to our neighbor's yard. Our neighbor's leave their fence open, they don't have a dog, and so these dogs went right into their backyard and cornered the neighbor's kitten in a tree.

But now, I flipped Izzy onto her back and inspected her. On her stomach I saw 3 spots where blood was trickling down her. I got a washcloth and started cleaning her up. In the meantime, my Mom and sister called animal control. They said they'd have someone out here when they could, since no one was in danger, and they called the vet. Her appointment is now at 10:15. I am almost positive these are bite marks. Either by these dogs or possibly by Mickey, since he was trying to protect our yard from the other dogs he might have accidently done this to Izzy. We may never find out. As I type this, Izzy is laying here.

Please pray for her, and hope for the best at our vet. I know it could have been so much worse, but these dogs are most likely strays, we don't know if they could have a virus or something that Izzy could get from the bites, if it was the dogs who bit her. We'll just have to wait and see.

Gotcha day!

Dear diary-

Yesterday was my "gotcha" day! That means that a year ago yesterday was the day Mom got me. How fun it was, yesterday! I got to go for a walk and I played with Mom for a very long time and I got roast beef AND chicken with dinner.

And also, today we were on our walk and it was raining pretty hard, but Mom suddenly heard footsteps behind her. Turns out, they weren't feet- they were paws! She looked back and saw a big dog running towards us, she looked to be a Sheltie/Aussie mix, possibly. She didn't look like she exactly wanted to play with me, so just to be safe Mom picked me up and the dog came closer. Mom squatted down and held the dog's collar and gave him a pat [not easy with a little Iz squirming in your other arm!] and then a woman came over and said I was a cutie, and that Tzus are the best dogs- hard not to agree with! Turns out the dog was hers!

So, there was my adventurous last two days!

Until next time,
Iz

Dear Diary-

A few months ago, I had to go on a different account with a different typist but now, that typist never comes on here anymore so Mom got me back on this account! So glad to be back on the account with my brudders (Mickey and Jake) and don't tell the kitties I'm saying this, but I'm also glad to be back on an account with them. Shh!
