Arrival Story:
We searched through 3 shelters and almost left the last one. I think the spirit of our darling Burgoo told us to go back and save Pee Wee. He was in a tiny cage in a huge understaffed, overpopulated shelter, and although we didn't know it at the time he was a very, very sick puppy. He had a bad case of kennel cough. As per the signed agreement with the shelter we took him back there for treatment. The hospital there had terrible conditions and we could never get a straight story fromthem as to his condition. 4 days after taking him back for treatment we demanded his return to us, took him to a wonderful private vet and nursed him back to health ourselves. He became a totally different dog than we had ever met LOL. He became a PUPPY which we hadn't expected, but we are fine with that. He is now bright eyed, healthy, playful and going to obedience classes. Someone somewhere loved him before. He was found as a stray before he was in the shelter. He is housebroken and knows some rudimentary commands. He was SOOOO excited when he discovered I had bought him a rawhide bone. He knew what THOSE were. And the delight in his eyes when he saw a dog treat made me want to weep. To have been in a loving home, and then been on the streets, well we are so happy to have him back in a loving home, but feel so sorry for the family that lost him. Our vet says he is between 8 months and a year as of Sept of 2004. And he is a little runaway- he has gotten away from us twice, so I don't think he was dumped. I feel badly for his last family and I feel badly for him for puttinghimslef out there in harms way.
But the happy thing now is that we now have a new fur baby who is happy, playful, fun and a real bundle of energy. My daughter has a great companion that she takes with her all over the place and even sleeps with her. And we are all in love.

Oh, I just can't believe what Mom Mom just told me. She told me my Mommy is going to come back home to live. (If you read my diary, you know she moved away to a place called LasVegas. I was very sad. And every time she came to visit I wanted her to stay here with me!) She will live here at the house with us for a while while she finds a job! Then she will be moving out again :( BUT! She will be living near by and she will be able to come visit and maybe I can go visit her! I am SOOOOO doggy happy I just don't know what to dooooooo!
And guess what? Mommy is bringing me a new sister! She has a kitty cat names Pumpkin Moon! I am not sure if I like kitties or not, but if she is my sister I will try very hard to love her! Mom mom says it could be interesting around here for awhile.......what does she mean?
Woof Woff! Puppy kisses everyone! My Mommy will be home soon!

It was a Thursday. Mostly like any other hot, humid summer Thursday in the Chicago suburbs. But there was one BIG difference! This Thursday when PeeWee went out on his walkie he saw some very strange sights. He smelled very strange smells and he noticed very odd movements in the plants and grasses along his usual walking route. What on earth were those funny brown things stuck all over the trees and plants? PeeWee used his nose, burying it deep into the hosta that ringed the tree in the neighbors yard. Oh! PeeWee jumped back! Something moved in there among those empty brown things! Wait! It made a noise. It flapped big wings! Oh! It must be a BUG! PeeWee rushed into those hostas, you see, he loves bugs! Wow! Those are BIG bugs! Those must be some of those cicada things he heard Mom Mom talking about! He had heard they might be good to eat, but PeeWee was not very hungry. At least not for bugs. But PeeWee is mischievous and he thought these cicada things might like to play. So he carefully lifted a cicado off the leave with his mouth and placed it in the grass in front of him. But that bug just didn't want to play! It was flapping all over and trying to get back to the try. "Stupid bug!" Thought PeeWee. "Why climb a tree when you can play with me?" So PeeWee carefully moved the bug again. And then he nosed it around for good measure. Wait! It didn't move anymore. Is it okay? Didn't it like PeeWee? Oops there it went again! It DID want to play! Yay! And joyfully PeeWee pushed that cicada thing around some more. (He was really trying to herd it out into the open to play some more.) Hey, look! There were more cicadas to play with PeeWee! PeeWee was having fun with the cicadas but Mom Mom told him that's enough, it was time to go home. So he gave them one more push around, and then he did a very PeeWee thing..........he wet on them! Huh! Showed those silly bugs a thing or two huh PeeWee?! PeeWee was satisfied. He met cicada things and played with them and then showed them who was boss. It was another great walkie on an almost typical Chicago Thursday!

My Mommy Shelly has moved away from me and I am sad :( She moved to a place called Las Vegas Nevada. Mom Mom says it isn't close enough to come home and sleep with me at night any more. So now it is just me, Mom Mom and Dad. I really miss my Mommy alot. Sometimes she calls and I listen to her and lick the telephone. The other night I licked the phone and then I rolled over for my Mommy to rub my tummy like she used to, but she wasn't there to rub it for me. Mom Mom rubs my tummy for me now. She massages me too. Its not the same as having my Mommy here too though.
I still love my Mommy. My Mommy still loves me. We miss each other. But it is okay because my Mommy needed to try living someplace else. Mom Mom told my Mommy that if she gets settled down on her own she can come and get me. It will be an awfully hard thing for Mom Mom and Dad to Let Mommmy take me away. I would sure miss them too. Why can't we still live together anymore? How come Mommies grow up? I love everyone!
