Arrival Story:
My what big paws you have RED?? And what a big head you have there RED! But nothing compares to the size of this 8 year old (92 pounds) pure breed yellow labrador retriever's HEART - he is very good natured and just so lovable. This guy needs a second chance -- he ended up at the pound for FOUR weeks in a cement cage after his owner gave him up because he had too many dogs and could not care for him any longer. (We knew he was special considering that Animal Services puts down 'owner surrendered dogs' within FIVE days.) He is one affectionate teddy bear that likes to relax and watch television with you. RED will make a great friend for an older person or couple because he does not need much exercise, just a few short walks for fresh air and a tennis ball toss or two per day. His foster mom enjoys having him around and he gets along with other dogs and loves when the neighborhood kids want to pat his head and feel his soft ears. Anyone he encounters feels lucky to have met him - imagine what his new owners would feel EVERY DAY.....Lucky AND Proud! America's Favorite breed is featured on the cover of DOG FANCY's February issue. You can read all about RED, the yellow lab, and his personality traits, heritage and popularity starting on page 58. Don't let his age discourage you from meeting him...he has a long way to go and wants to live the life he finally deserves.

Bio:
Unfortunately, Red passed away on September 8, 2008 from cancer. His foster family loved him very much and blessed he was in our lives. We are at peace because he knew he was loved up to the last moment.
