Arrival Story:
We were going to adopt a greyhound. They had just opened a track near here so we were meeting with representatives from adopt a greyhound when they mentioned they had found a dog several weeks ago and she had not been claimed. They had notified all the proper authorities and still no one had stepped forward. I was not ready for a dog quite yet. We were new home owners, we didn't have a fence and it was winter! My husband at the time had never had a dog before so it was not a good idea. Well they asked us if we wanted to meet her. I said no! knowing full well that we would end up taking her home. Well, he said yes and that was that. She named herself on the walk. I said she was a real bruiser and that she would need a good bruiser name. He said the name of a wife of a soccer friend of his and she turned around to look at that same moment. He didn't want to name her that but she had picked it and I thought 'what are the chances...' well we did run into them only once - in the rawhide isle of PetSmart's grand opening. We called her orka and she ignored us! She was the best friend and stayed with me through a divorce, and some other really rough times. She traveled with me for 5 years of singing telegrams and I still cry at loosing her.
