Arrival Story:
I was fostering for a horrible rescue group last summer, and Fred was one of my foster dogs. I adopted him to his new home, and he came back to me VERY sick. He ended up being diagnosed with some sort of rare lung infection, and the vet told me to say goodbye to him. I cried so hard that the vet suggested I take one last night with him and wait to see if the radiologist had any advice to offer as a last ditch effort. I took him home, made him comfortable, and cried...until the phone rang and the vet said that, miraculously, the radiologist thought that we might be able to give him some hardcore antibiotics (Clavamox and Baytril) to pull him through. IT WORKED!! Fred is off of the antibiotics now. He is HEALTHY!! :) :) :)He is the silliest and sweetest dog...he makes me laugh constantly. He has the weirdest bark (he was debarked prior to arriving at rescue), and he only has ONE LUNG now due to his infection. *NEW* Last September, Fred almost died again. He suddenly came down with acute necrotizing pancreatitis, and he was hospitalized for nearly 2 weeks. I was DEVASTATED when they told me that it was time to euthanize him. The vet on duty that day chuckled to himself as he humored me with the response "yeah, sure" when I asked if it would be okay for me to cook him some chicken and rice and bring it in as a last resort. I got the last laugh (through tears) when I observed Fred consume a little bit of the chicken and rice...and keep it down!...and then consume more...and keep it down...and more...and more...and it all stayed down!!!!!!! MIRACULOUS. This dog is AMAZING. That's my boy!

Bio:
About 10 days ago, a violent rapist who had raped and murdered a woman two nights prior arrived at my house at 1:00AM. Out of all of my dogs, Freddie is the one who everyone would have least expected to hurt anyone, but he obviously sensed something because he ran outside and bit the man!!! Fred is NOT a violent dog, and he has never hurt any other human...ever! People can do anything to him (grab him while he's eating, grab his paws, pull on his ears, etc.) and he won't bite. Fred slowed the psycho guy down long enough that the police were able to arrest him in my yard!!! YAY HERO FRED! He has on ear up and one ear down, an underbite, yellow eyes, a bald spotted chest, a chocolate colored nose, long skinny legs, a wide torpedo shaped body, and the SILLIEST bark...but somehow it all fits together perfectly. :) This dog is such a goof!! I wish everyone could experience his silliness at least once. He definitely enriches my life immensely.
