Arrival Story:
After my beloved dog Chopper died, my parents did not want any more dogs. But my mom worked with someone who was a dog "foster parent" for an organization that placed homeless dogs in foster homes instead of having them live in an animal shelter. We went to Petsmart to pick up our first "foster dog", and someone handed us this dog's leash. The dog was very distant and not very affectionate when we were there. But as soon as we got her home, she settled right in as if she'd known us for ever! She was so full of love and cuddles and happiness. We were supposed to keep her for just three days, and then she would go to the adoption show and hopefully find a new home. But the night before the adoption show, I pleaded my case for keeping the dog... and she stayed! She's now part of my family forever!

Trixie is only about nine months old, but when she was found, she was homeless and she had had a litter of puppies. Someone had dumped her off in the country. She was brought to a high-kill shelter. Almost Home Foundation rescued her from the shelter because she was going to be put to sleep! They gave her the name "Sandy" but then for some reason changed it to "Julia." When we got her as our foster dog, we called her "Jules" for short, but she never really responded to it. Strangely, when we changed her name to "Trixie", she started responding to it right away!!!
