Arrival Story:
Lucy was brought into the nursing home that I was working at in a laundry basket with the rest of her litter. The woman that worked in the kitchen was looking for homes for them. She asked me to watch them for a minute while she went to the bathroom. One little black dog decided that she had to go potty and climbed out of the basket and peed on the floor by my feet. Little did I know at the time, she would be coming home with me soon and become my sweet Lucy and we would have 11 precious years with her! I had to ask my husband if we could have another dog. We had a German Shepherd mix named Max already. It took me 2 weeks to convince him that we needed this little girl in our home. So, right before Christmas, Lucy came home to us. It was the start of a love story! The first night with us, I had to give her a bath because the home that she came from did not take care of the puppies very well. She smelled terrible and she was soooo hungry! We kept her in a kennel the first night and in the morning, I realized that I hadn't heard a peep out of her all night. I flew to her kennel and there she was, all curled up and wagging her little tail. We were in love with this little ball of fur already!

Bio:
After we had Lucy for about 4 weeks, she started to have seizures. We were devastated and it turned out that she was Epileptic. She was so tiny and to watch her have these seizures just broke my heart. From then on she wanted her kennel at night and we were happy because I knew that she'd be safe in there if she seizured. I would know instantly in the middle of the night if she would have one and would take her out and hold her until it was over. She always knew that Mommy would help her through those " naughties" as we called them. God, how we loved her. In Feb. of 2005 Lucy was diagnosed with Cancer and in March she underwent surgery to have the tumor removed from under her armpit. They only got 90% but said that we would have possibly 6 more months with her. We didn't. On June 1 2005 we said goodbye to our precious girl. We had her doctor come to our house and help her to Rainbow Bridge
