Amazing

It's been nearly two years since I came to my furever home ( Jan 13 ) And dad say's he's proud at how much I've changed . We went to the dog park today and I got to run and play with all my freinds and made some new ones. We were there for a couple of hours and I got really muddy too. When we got home , mom met dad in the sun room and they got me cleaned up for my therapy dog visit today. Dad was talking to mom about how much I've changed. That it was hard to believe I was the same dog that was so dog on dog agressive that the breeder put it in my contract ( I now visit the dog park twice a week and love being around other dogs ) The same shy guy that was so timid around people and now I just love meeting new people and doing my therapy visits . I think dad has a new nickname for me cause he keeps lookin' at me and saying " amazing "

I DID IT!

It's been a couple of weeks now, but I passed both my Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog evaluations ! My AKC evaluater was also certified to give me my therapy dog evaluation . So we Did them the same day. We have to drive about two hours to get there so dad was happy about only having to make one trip . I've also finished all my other requirements and now dad and I are just waiting for mom to pick out what pic to send for my ID . Dad is like REALLY PROUD of me !

Yekkk !!!!!!

Dad and I went for our morning walk a couple of days ago and on the way home I heard a noise in the wheat field beside us, Thinking it was onre of those pesky rat things I pounced into the field after it. I then thought I saw a kitty but suddenly my eyes burned and THE SMELL !!! dad said something Like " Oh S__t ! " and run out to help me as I rolled around on the ground. . . Wippng my muzzle on the wheat trying toget rid of that smell . So dad takes me home and to make things worse mom throws me out of the house ! And when she lets me in it's to give me a bath . And then later she does it again . Dad said something about being glad he's got hayfever and mom won't come near me . She keeps calling me "skunkie dog " No more skunks for me !

An Amazing Journey. . . and it's Only Just Beginng !

Eli continues to shake off the problems he had when he arrived in our home. Seperation Anxiety. . . gone . Shyness with people. . . gone . He has become an extroverted , confidant young man . He is awesome with his obedience training and his trainer is talklng about moving on to tracking off leash ( he's proven to be reliable off leash with obedience ). But the biggest surprizehas been when I took him to my work with me one pay day. ( I'm a chef at an Assisted Living Community ) As we entered the lobby several of the residents aproched Eli all wanting to pet him and to my surprize he not only let them he seemed to really enjoy thier company. So for the next few weeks at work all I heard was " When is Eli comming back ? So I talked to the activities directer and we started going in twice a month . Eli truly seems to have a gift with the elderly and our trainer is helping us move towards certification as Therapy Dog . We have a ways to go yet . We need to get a CGC certificate and a bit more polish here and there . regardless of where we go from here I could never be prouder of Eli than I am right now. He has over come so much so quickly.

Deer

Dad and I were out playing(off leash obedience training) in an alfalfa field this morning. And these two deer jumped up in front of me. It was like eeeha and I started after the varmints. But then I heard dad say "no chase!" Annnd I stopped and went back to dad's side. I was really bummed at first but dad was sure happy! I'm still getting treats and extra belly rubs. Guess I did good.

I Caught a Rabbit !

We've had a pesky garden raider this year. Mom did'nt know what for sure. But I figured it out. Dad took me out to go potty last night. And I seen something in the garden, And away I went. I caught the little thief coming out of the garden and took it in the house to show mom. She was'nt as happy as I thought she'd be(made me take it back outside). Anyway dad called it a cottontail rabbit. Woooooo !!!

PETCO

We 've had a PETCO open by us and Dad took me there today. We've been working on my "same sex agression" and this was like a test. And I was the only dog NOT having a fit! There were like four other dogs all barking and carrying on. I was too interested in all the neat smells. And all the cool people giving me lots of attention. Dad was raelly proud of how I behaved

I'm Back !

Got those pesky stitches out monday. And I've spent the last week making up for my "down time". Terrorizing the cats ETC. Running, Jumping, did I mention running?

Recovery

Well the last week has been a bummer. I had my surgery. And I really haven't been able to do much. Dad and mom put this thing around my head. And I keep bumping into everything. And I'm so sore! But it's SLOWLY getting better. Just wait 'till these stitches come out. Those cats are going to wish they hadn't teased me so much!

Fun in the field

Well my obedience training got even more fun today . Dad and Molly ( she's really my teacher but don't tell dad !) and I went out in the farmers field and let me off my leash ! I got to run and run and run , as long as I followed dads commands . ( Which means do what Molly does , Got that part figured out...I think .) Lots of fun ! Well , time to go back in the field to "train" (play) some more .
