Arrival Story:
I had gone over to check out what was new at the CAPS thrift shop and when I was returning to my truck, there was a young lady stnding at the back of her truck , right next to mine. She was crying so I asked her if she was alright.... if I could help her with something. She explained she had to give up her best friend, and it was breaking her heart having to do it. She just knew something bad was going to happen to her friend. I tried to assure her that was not the case and that CAPS was a wonderful place for people to bring their animals to be adopted. She was so sad and so upset. I asked if I could pet her dog. Her dog was in a kennel in the back of her truck and she came right to me when we opened the door. She was so darn cute! I had never really been around a Daschund but something about her just got to me! After talking for a long time and playing with Mackenzie, she asked if I would be interested in taking Mackenzie for a few days till she could find a home for her. (It turned out, we lived fairly close to each other. ) Well......Mackenzie became a permament member of our family. And I take her to see her former owner once in awhile, who is always overjoyed to see her!
