Arrival Story:
I got him from a breeder as well. I went to pick him out when he was 4 weeks old, and brought him home when he was 7 weeks old. There were 3 males and 3 females (I think.). I wanted a male. Out of the 3 males in the litter, I liked Toby the best. I liked his markings and temperament.

Bio:
Toby is a very good boy. He loves me to death. He follows me everywhere I go. He is very stubborn, though, and doesn't like to be forced to do something that he doesn't want to do. He's not a dog that warms up to people right away, like Buster was. Toby takes a few minutes to warm up to strangers, (including other dogs) but once he knows you well, he's very friendly. He barks a lot when people come to the door, but he's not aggressive in the least. It's more of a "Who are you? What are you doing here?" kind of bark. He's a very good watchdog. Maybe a little too good. When he gets excited, he sometimes likes to nip and bite. He likes to jump up as well. We're working with him on all of that. He learns certain things quickly, but not so much on others. Hopefully, he'll learn them eventually. He's my best friend, and I love him very much.

Mommy is so proud of me!

Since yesterday was the 4th of July and that means fireworks, Mommy was worried that every time I heard fireworks, I'd bark my head off at them. I'm a dog that barks at every loud noise I hear. But I didn't do that yesterday! There were a lot of fireworks, and I didn't bark at any of them. I only tried to hide a few times. Even though I didn't bark, I did shake and pant a lot. I pant a lot when I'm nervous, like during fireworks, thunderstorms, and when I ride in the car. Mommy was very surprised that I didn't bark at all. She was so proud of me. She thinks it had something to do with the fact that since there were so many, I was getting used to them. Also, she would reach down and pet me every now and then, to praise me for being so good. So she thinks that since she was rewarding me for being quiet, I didn't bark at all. Even when the fireworks that shake the ground went off, I didn't make a sound. Mommy was so happy that I behaved myself. I still don't like fireworks, though. Luckily, they only come once a year.

I have decided that I'm not doing the tagging game anymore, so if you don't mind, please don't tag me, okay?

Thanks.

my first bath & a big breakthrough!

First, I'll tell you about my first bath.

Last week, my mom took me with her to spend a few days at her grandparents' house. While we were there, I had my first bath since I've lived with my mom. My mom never thought of giving me a bath before, because I've never needed one. I don't have an odor, and I don't roll in anything that would make it necessary for me to have a bath. So my mom's grandma filled up the tub a little bit, and my mom put me in the water. To get me used to the water, my mom cupped her hands into the water and poured it over me. After that, my mom's grandma got a pitcher so that my mom could get me wetter quicker. When my mom poured it over me, I didn't move or make a sound. I just let her do it. I even tolerated the shampoo on me. The entire ordeal went a lot better than my mom thought it would. She thought I'd put up a fight. Although I didn't do that, I did try several times to jump out of the tub. But my mom kept blocking my escape. Darn! After my bath, she dried me off and brushed me. My fur was a lot more difficult to brush out than my mom expected. There were a lot of mats in there. Just so all you owners out there know, always brush out your dog's fur before a bath, not after. It'll be a lot easier that way.

Now to tell you about my big breakthrough.

Something you all should know about me is that I hate car rides. Hate them. I pant and tremble the whole trip, even before I get into the car. I throw up, too. My big breakthrough happened while my mom and her dad took me to meet her grandparents halfway and when her grandparents drove me and my mom to their house, the day that she and I spent a few days at their house. We meet halfway, just so that my mom's dad doesn't have to drive all the way to their house, or that they don't have to come all the way to ours. Anyway, 99% of the time that I'm in the car, I throw up. But, not this time! The entire trip to where we were going to meet halfway, I didn't throw up at all. And on the way to my mom's grandparents' house, I didn't throw up, either! When it was time to go back home to my house, I didn't throw up when we went to meet my mom's dad, and I didn't throw up on the ride home. My mom was so proud of me, the proudest she's ever been of me. She was so happy.
