Arrival Story:
Cagney is one of my foster dogs. My husband and I work as volunteers with a rescue group in our area.
Cagney came into our system about a yr or less ago. He was vetted and neutered and when he was all healthy and ready he was taken to show at PetsMart as is our routine. A young woman who had a small dog saw him and after filling an application was allowed to adopt Cagney. His foster Mom was very fond of him and I remember her being sad but happy he had a good home when he left that Sunday. She loves old movies and named him after James Cagney. We got a call from Cagney's Mom. She is moving into a new apartment and will not be able to take Cagney there with her. So here he is again. Looking for a home. A pet is a long term commitment. They are not like a lamp you get tired of and throw away. If you move to a new place and the lamp doesn't fit the dacore you junk it. Pets are not to be treated that way. They have feelings. They love you with their whole heart and give you no less then 100% of their devotion. But here he is, back in rescue and in yet another foster home.

I gave my love to a human who has given me up. What else is there to say? I was a good boy. I don't understand what happened. I was a good boy, honest I was.

Had a visit from Cagney's Dad's daughter and her husband, They told us that he is so happy and spoiled it is not funny. He has never pottied in the house and is his Dad's constant companion. They go everywhere together and spend hours sitting on the patio together watching the world go by. What a wonderful ending for Cagney, His new name is Poncho after Mr Mark's long ago little dog who he looks like. Poncho is fine with him. Just so he is loved he could care less what he is called. He is one lucky little dog. He is so very loved.

My Foster Dad is just crazy about me. He lets me sleep with him and Mom now. I'm the only dog out of the 7 here that sleeps with them. hehehe I get under the covers and I stay still and sleep all night there. Mom says I don't bother her so I can stay in their people bed. I love the big people bed. It's so comfy and they have a heated pad so when it's cold they turn it on an OHhhhhh it's awesome. I think Dad wants to keep me. I don't know if they will adopt me but I am here for now and I am happy.

I was taken to PetsMart today. I spent the afternoon there. I was so tired. I didn't want to be on the floor. Mom put me in a pen and some kids came by and played with me. Now that was real fun. I like kids. I didn't like the other dogs there though. I barked and fussed at them all. The humans laughed at me. They said it is a good thing I am not a big dog. BUT I am a big dog! I'm a real big boy and I can be the boss. Well Mom and Dad held me most of the time I was there. I love that. Lots of people looked at me and said I am cute but nobody was looking for a dog like me so Mom and Dad brought me home with them. That's fine with me. I could stay here furever.
