We had picked out a German Shepherd but the shelter staff brought out this little skinny tan mix by mistake. I took one look at her frightened eyes and decided to adopt her AND the shepherd! The shelter staff told us that Dorie had been picked up as a stray and the owner came in looking for her and signed her over to the shelter because they couldn't afford her. Bio: After adoption, we took Dorie to the vet for an exam and spaying. The vet was concerned because she was so thin and decided to wait until she gained some weight. After several weeks of good food, we realized that our new dog was pregnant and she had a litter of 11 puppies, all healthy. All were adopted into loving homes and we had Dorie spayed ASAP.
