Arrival Story:
My husband and I both love to hunt, so we started looking for a Boykin puppy around the state of SC, unfortunetly( turned out to be fortunetly) none of the kennels had any young puppies at the time. We found one 6 month old puppy that no one had bought at Rainbow Kennels, so we took a chance and went to see the puppy that no one wanted. He was small for his age and kind of shy, but he had the most beautiful face and we couldn't resist taking him home. I didn't care if he would hunt or not, he won me over with his cute, shy personality. He was the best thing that could have ever happen to us. Not only did he blossom out ( 38 pounds) and lose his shyness, but he is the best hunting dog anyone could ever ask for. He has natural talents and it didn't take much training on our part, infact we have learned more from him about hunting than we could have ever taught him. He lives/loves to retrieve and will retrieve anything, including geese that are bigger than he is. If everyone that looked at him and excluded him as a choice hunting dog could see him now, they would regret not buying that shy puppy. He is the most awsome dog we have ever had the pleasure of owning and loving. We are now planning on getting another puppy from Rainbow Kennels so that we will have another loving, faithful, awsome addition to our family.

Bio:
After I tested negative for what they thought was heartworms, they now say I have seizures, but don't know why. I take a medicine called phenobarbitol, that helps control them. I still get them often, but they aren't as bad as they were in the begining. I have allergies that are bad in spring and fall. My eyes water, get real red, and I sneeze alot. It seems mine are bad at the same time my mom and dads are bad too. The vet thinks that might have something to do with the seizures. I wish I didn't have them, they realy make me feel bad for a few minutes. I always know when I am going to have one and I get in mom or dads lap and ride it out. They always talk me through it and comfort me, so it makes it a little better. I sure wouldn't wish these things on any other dog, they are bad. Well, just thought I needed to update my information since I haven't done it in a long time. We now have two more additions to our family, and they are both girls! Maddie is a cute little thing, they call a shih tzu. She thinks I am her boyfriend, I guess because I treated her like she was my own pup when they brought her home.I couldn't help it, she was so tiny and I was worried cause Remi didn't seem to like her at all. He kept growling at her and it scared her. Well, Remi loves her as much as I do, now. He even lets her climb on him and bite his ears, almost like he use to do to me. The other girl is Nikki, she is a German Shepherd Dog. She was small when they brought her home only 11 pounds, and now just 4 weeks later she is up to 20 pounds and is taller than I am. Dad keep telling us that she will be a big dog, so we better be nice to her while she is little. She stayed in our kennel with us for two weeks until the yard was fenced in. Now she stays in the fence cause dad said she will be a guard dog for the house and for mom when she is alone. So far she is pretty good at letting us know if there is something she doesn't like or someone she doesn't know comes around the house. Remi is getting paid back for chewing on my ears cause now Nikki has chewed on his and made the hair shorter on them. I think it is funny, but mom and dad don't think so. She is doing obedience training, learning how to sit, stay, heal, and not jump up on people, something Remi never learned to do, he is a jumper and will knock you over. He is just so excited when mom and dad get home, so I guess I can't blame him for jumping up and down. Well, that's about it for now. Nothing else comes to mind to write about. Hope all you pups out there have a wonderful fall and winter. I know I will, it's hunting season!

The hunt is on!:
Casey is always ready for hunting. As soon as he even sees camo clothing or a gun he gets so excited and sits behind the tailgate of the truck waiting to jump up and get in his carrier. He also collects all our shotgun shells and puts them in a pile, it's almost like he is keeping count of how many times we shot compared to how many birds he retrieved. He never tires and can out do us anyday, but at home he is the most calm, relaxed and loving dog.

Heart worm scare!

Just letting all my dog buddies out there know that sometimes mistakes can happen in laboratories. Mom and dad have us on heart worm medication for prevention purposes. I had got sick about 5 months ago and during some blood test they said I had heart worms. My mom and dad didn't believe it and the morning that I was scheduled to start my heart worm treatment, which I heard them talking about it being dangerous to me and I would have to be confined to a carrier for weeks at a time during treatment, they requested that I get tested again. The vet said they would call to let them know the results before starting the treatment. Well, thank god mom and dad requested that retest, I tested totally negative for heartworms. The lab had made a mistake, a mistake that could have killed me or made me very, very sick. So I want to let everyone out there know, if you test positive make sure they do a retest, just to be on the safe side. I was just tested again at my well physical and I am still healthy. The originial illness, that I was having blood work for, never showed anything wrong with me, mom and dad seem to think I got over heated and couldn't cool off fast enough. Another thing, be careful of FIRE ANTS, Remi sat down on an ant mound and got bit, he had a bad reaction to them and almost died. Mom and dad carry a first aid kit for us and thank god they had benadryl in there, the vet said that is what saved him from dying. Well doggie buddies, be careful and safe, there are lots of things out there that aren't doggie friendly.

Remi

Well, here is the newest pic of Remi. He is 1 year old now. We started dove hunting again, not been too good of a season so far, but Remi did get two birds so far, one was ours, one was some other guys, they man couldn't find his bird and Remi found it for him, not too bad for a kid on his first real hunting year. He is doing really good with everything, you would never know he was ever shy about getting in the water, now he lives for it. He has developed into a pretty good little hunting partner, must be from all my good training talks we have during the day, yeah I will take credit for some of his training, after all, that seems to be what we talk about the most during the day when we are alone. The little brat watches everything I do, so I know he has learned alot from me, the expert. We went looking for ducks in a swamp this past weekend, getting ready for duck season to open next month. He really has a ball out in the woods, ponds and mud holes. He can still be a pesty brat, but I don't think I would be happy if he wasn't here with me all day and night. Thats about it for the news on the kid. So have a wonderful hunting season!

He did it!

Well, the little brat finallydid it , he got in the water and swam and actually retrieved the rubber duck dad bought me three years ago. I have to say, he sure looks cute swimming in the lake, and it was really cold water, I am surprized he got in it. He was also able to jump into the back of the pick-up truck all by himself without any help from dad or mom. I'm kind of sad now that he is growing up and is almost as big as I am, actually he is a little taller than me, but I am short legged and he isn't. I was kind of enjoying his obnoxious puppy behavior, just don't let dad and mom know that, I still have to play it like he gets on my nerves. Well, I will fill you in on his next acheivements as he does them. I'm just looking forward to spring and warmer weather so we can go to the lake and swim more often.

Licks!
