Favorite Toy:
Stuffed animal, a floppy duck.

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere you let him go!

Best Tricks:
Again, letting us think he is going to let us pet him!

Arrival Story:
Our beloved Dalmation of 13+ years passed in 2006. It was time to hear the pitter patter of little feet, but we didn't want a big dog. We wanted one that was small enough to travel but had a big dog attitude. One thing Shibas have is ATTITUDE!

Bio:
Tomo, Japanese for pal or companion is a fitting name for our fuzz butt! His nick name of Ha Kira! loosely translates to leaf killer. We got him in October and trust me, the neighborhood is safe. No leaf will attack; he has slayed them all! And of course any Shiba owner understands where "Little Monster" comes from...

Today at the doctor's office I weighed 16.1 pounds! We are all so happy...and full! I still have my "liquid" days but they are not as often.

Mom and Dad got a new boat and we went fishing even though it was only 40 degrees in the morning. (Of course it warmed up to 70 something...love Florida!) I was shivering so Mom lent me her warmer...pawlease Mom don't post that!

Think I'll go get a snack...Shiba snuffles and smooches

Annual Trek To The Mountains

We took our annual trek to the Smokie Mountains. We stay in TN but were all over TN and NC. Dad took me riding 2 days and Mom & Aunt Patti took Murph and I on the trails the other 5 days.

I had great poops in two states BOL! I never knew so many people were that concerned about what comes out the back end of this Shiba!

One day Dad took me on the motorcycle and Mom met us at the Joyce Kilmer park with a picnic lunch. All 6 of us (Mom, Dad, Aunt Patti, Uncle Dave, Murph and I) hiked the trail and then went on a long ride on the Cherohala. The wind in my ears and the leaves turning all shades of Shiba...it was great. Then Mom took me back to the cabin and Dad went on :( I was pretty windblown by then anyway...

OOOh Yeah...I saw HORSES. They are big and smell funny but I went right up to them (okay a little timid I will admit...but did I tell you they are big?!) It was so cool.

My special medicine worked great and even the change of activity and water didn't hurt me. I am a hiking fool! Seventeen hiked miles and numerous more just around the mountain cabin. Life is truly for the DOGS!!

The Power of Puppy Prayers

I am on the mend and after bottoming out at just over 11 pounds I am now just over 14 pounds. Mom wants 4 more. So many Shiba Smoochies...(as long as they aren't human smoochies I'm good with it!)

Currently I get pancreatic enzymes sprinkled on my food twice a day and a prednisone (5mg) every morning. I'm back to walking every morning for 3-4 miles with my pawrents and I even got to go to the park this weekend!

I love my new food. I get canned food in the morning and evening and my Wellness no grain dry all day. I still get my chicken strip after my walk and my milk bone for night-nights. We are trying to limit my other treats until I have a "sustained" healthy pooping.

My special vet Dr Levine is happy and wants to address the prednisone but only after we are sure I won't degrade. That happens alot but maybe I won't have that happen. One thing for sure my pawrents will be much more forceful about getting me "seen". My other vet (a good vet, too but not "special") was trying to be frugal and didn't think he would need to see me. Was he surprised!

We leave for our mountain vacation October 9th and I will be walking the trails with my Mom, Aunt Patti and cousin Murph...Glad I'm on the mend!
